Reflective Memory Card: Configuration Utility

The Reflective Memory Card Configuration utility can be used to install the reflective memory device driver and to confirm hardware switch settings and card configuration as well as the PCI Bus settings. Some soft switches can also be modified through the utility.

Important

1 Run the CfgRFMCard utility.
2 Select a Configure RFM Card.
3 Detect the Configure RFM Card.
4 Configure the Configure RFM Card.

Run the CfgRFMCard utility.

The following steps are required to install or confirm installation of the kernel level driver for the Reflective memory card.

  1. Do one of the following to start the CfgRFMCard utility.
  • Command Prompt

Enter the command, CfgRFMCard, in the Command Prompt field.

  • Start Menu
  1. Click Start on the Windows Task bar.
  2. Select All Programs->HMI SCADA – CIMPLICITY <version>->Reflective Memory Configuration

Where

<version> is the version of CIMPLICITY installed on the CIMPLICITY server.

  1. Handle user requirements, as follows.
  • On Windows XP and Windows 2003 Server, you must be a user with administrative privileges to successfully use the CfgRFMCard utility.
  • On all other supported operating systems, the program requires elevation to run, as follows.
  1. When the utility is initiated, if required, the User Account Control will prompt the user for permission to continue.
  2. The program will identify itself as

CfgRFMCard.exe with GE Intelligent Platforms, Inc. as its publisher.

When user requirements are met, the initiated utility will check to see if the expected version of the driver is installed and associated with the reflective memory hardware.

  1. Follow through with driver identification, as follows.
  • If the driver is detected.

Continue configuration by selecting the card.

  • If the driver is not detected.

A message will ask if you want to install the driver.

 If you indicate that the driver is to be installed, a wizard will walk you through the driver installation.

Select a Reflective Memory card.

After the driver detection portion is complete, you will be prompted to select a card.

  • If no cards are available for selection, then one of the following occurred.
  • The reflective memory device driver did not install
  • No cards are associated with the reflective memory hardware.
  • One or more cards will be installed if the driver installation was successful.

(If no Cards are Detected) Troubleshoot the Problem

If no cards are detected do the following to troubleshoot the problem.

  1. Click Cancel to exit the utility.
  2. Open the Windows Device Manager

Note: Enter devmgmt.msc at the Command Prompt.

  1. Click the Scan for hardware changes button.

Windows will attempt to find the cards.

  1. Do one of the following depending on whether or not the card is found.
If the Cards: Then:
Are not detected Contact GE Intelligent Platform’s GlobalCare (Embedded Hardware).
Are found. Execute the CfgRFMCard utility; select the card to be tested from the drop down menu.

Configure the Configure RFM Card.

After selecting the reflective memory card, a dialog box similar to the following open.

  • Columns show the following.
Shows
1 Some of the reflective memory card settings.
2 Some of the PCI bus specific parameters.
3 Software selectable switches.
  • The following should match the switch settings configured for your card:
A Node Id.
B Fast or Redundant Mode.
C Rogue Master 0.
D Rogue Master 1.
  • Buttons do the following, when clicked.
Button Description
Edit Modify one or more of the software selectable switches. If Edit is clicked, modify the software switch settings as required for your application.
OK Save the configuration and exit the utility.
Cancel Cancel the changes and exit the utility.
Note:

If any settings are incorrect, check your switch settings again. If you have questions (e.g. you are not sure how to set the switch settings or if the values match the configured settings) contact GE Intelligent Platforms’ GlobalCare (Embedded Hardware).
