New Features
New Features in Proficy CSense
This release of Proficy CSense introduces the following new exciting features:
OPC UA Client Support
In addition to the existing list of supported OPC Classic (DA and HDA) client and server data providers, CSense 8.5 introduces support for OPC Unified Architecture (UA) in the form of new OPC UA Client data providers for CSense blueprints and data recipes.
Control Loop Optimization
CSense 8.5 extends it's Control Loop Optimization capabilities by introducing integrated System Identification and PID Control Loop Tuning. These exciting new features are available to users of the Continuous Troubleshooter:
-
System Identification Assistant - Estimate process transfer function models from historical data for process simulation or control optimization.
-
PID Control Loop Tuning Assistant – Calculate recommended PID loop tuning settings for PID control loop performance optimization, and see it displayed on CSense Process+ control loop monitoring reports.
Improved Data Preparation
Enhancements have been added to the "Import Text File" operation for data recipes, simplifying the user experience when building data recipes that import data from text files in the following ways:
-
Data types are now automatically detected for fields imported using the "Import Text File" operation, allowing users to modify the detected data types while configuring the operation and removing the need to convert data types with a separate operation after importing data using the "Import Text File" operation.
-
The "Import Text File" operation now provides regional support, allowing users to import Text Files from any region, and provides further flexibility and configuration options to read region specific file, timestamp and number formats.
New Installations options to suite every plant
CSense 8.5 introduces a new deployment model for CSense, allowing for the separation of the CSense Application Servers and Data Servers as distributed nodes on your network. CSense applications can be installed on a local machine as a CSense Application Server without requiring a local instance of SQL Server. CSense Application Servers can connect to a CSense Data Server on a remote/separate node on your network that can be shared by other CSense Application Servers.
For customers that require a quick-and-easy simple installation experience, you may select to have CSense install both CSense Application and Data servers to your local machine.
Customers can also select to have CSense install an instance of SQL Server Express on the target machine, further simplifying the installation experience and reducing the system requirements prior to installing CSense.

Beyond the existing languages already supported in previous releases, Proficy CSense 8.5 introduces translated language support for the following additional languages with the release of the *International version:
-
