New Features

Included CSense updates and service packs

This release contains all improvements and resolved issues released in service packs and software improvement modules since the previous release of Proficy CSense.

This release of Proficy CSense introduces the following new exciting features:

Control Loop Optimization

CSense 8.5 Service Pack 1 extends it's Control Loop Optimization capabilities by introducing several feature enhancements to existing Control Loop Monitoring capabilities, as well as introducing a new Process+ report and calculated KPI. These new capabilities are introduced in the following product areas:

  • Process+ Reporting App for Operations Hub
  • Process+ Action Objects
  • Process+ Documentation

Process+ Reporting App for Operations Hub

  • Existing report names have been updated for improved product alignment. Existing reports are now called "Fleet Performance" and "Loop Shift Performance" and are accessible from within the Operations Hub Process+ App as in previous releases.

  • The new Loop Performance History report provides the ability to trend and compare control loop KPIs over time for a selected loop.

  • The table of KPIs listed on the Fleet Performance report has been updated with a new grid control with enhanced options for paging, dynamic sorting, filtering, searching and exporting data.

  • Loop Descriptions specified during deployment of Process+ Action Objects are now displayed on reports.

  • The updated Loop Shift Performance report now combines the display of the MV and PV trends on a single trend with overlays for the control modes.

  • Control Modes displayed on trends contained in the Loop Shift Performance report now displays a visible legend with clear labels for the various modes.

  • The Fleet Performance report now also includes the average absolute error (AVG Absolute Error (%)) as a percentage of the PV span for all listed control loops.

  • The percentage absolute error (Average Absolute Error %) is now included as part of the Error table on the Loop Shift Performance report.

  • The Loop Performance Index KPI calculation has been updated to ensure that the calculated performance index is easier to understand. Refer to the Process+ help documentation for more detailed information on the calculation of the Performance Index KPI.

Process+ Action Objects

  • All Process+ Action Objects now calculate the new percentage absolute error (Average Absolute Error %) KPI for deployed Loops.

  • The CSense Action Object Manager now provides users with the ability to export the Loop Definitions File (CSV) and Control Mode Script (TXT) from deployed Action Objects.

Process+ Documentation Updates

  • Added a listing of Process+ KPIs calculated for loops, including descriptions and formulas or algorithms uses in calculating the KPIs.

  • Several minor updates to Process+, Architect, and SQL API help documentation.

New Template Assistant for blueprints

CSense 8.5 SP1 introduces a new Template Assistant that provides users with the ability to specify and expand multiple template blueprints as a single batch operation, allowing for improved productivity when developing and deploying large numbers of template blueprints. The new template assistant is available on the CSense Architect main menu from within the Architect application.

Improved Python Module Management

CSense 8.5 SP1 provides users with an updated Python Module Manager that includes several improvements to the user interface and user experience, with improved user feedback and improved accuracy and stability when installing 3rd party Python Modules on a CSense system.

Improved deployment speed

The deployment speed for users deploying blueprints as real-time and scheduled Action Objects that contain large numbers of source and sink blocks have been improved. The performance improvement is most notable when deploying blueprints containing source and sink blocks that have connections with external data providers that are slower to establish.
