License Client
- License Client Overview
  Use the License Client to activate, review, and update licenses on a client device or a USB hardware key. The License Client can retrieve licenses from a Cloud License Server, a Local License Server on your intranet, or a USB hardware key.
- Installing the License Client
  You must install the License Client on all client devices that require to activate a Proficy software.
- Removing Existing Legacy Licenses
  Before migrating to cloud-based licensing, you must remove your existing licenses.
- Upgrading Legacy Licenses
  If you received an upgrade file for a legacy license, you can use that file to update the legacy license instead of the License Client.
- Viewing the Audit Log
  The ProficyLicenseClient_Audit.log file provides details about operations performed on the License Client.
- Viewing Licenses
  The View Licenses tab displays information about licenses on this computer. You can display license information for all products or a particular product.
- Activating Licenses
  - Activating Licenses on a Computer Connected to the Cloud License Server
  - Activating Licenses on a Computer Connected to a Local License Server
  - Activating Licenses on a Computer with a USB Hardware Key Inserted
  - Activating Licenses on a Computer not Connected to the Cloud License Server
    Use the Activate Licenses tab to activate licenses on client computers that are not connected to the Internet.

- Applying Proficy Licenses using Tag Pooling from Cloud Server
  Activating licenses with tag pooling enables efficient management of SCADA systems by allowing you to allocate additional tags (database blocks) without having to reorder new licenses. This feature streamlines the process of expanding SCADA systems and distributing tag licenses across multiple systems using a pooling code. The pooling code provides the flexibility to add, distribute, or return tags based on your system requirements. Currently, tag pooling is available for SCADA iFIX and CIMPLICITY product software licenses.

  Use the Advanced tab to refresh and clean licenses, update application settings, and download the latest License Client to a computer.
- About Term Licensing
  Term Licensing allows you to use GE Vernova Proficy products for a specified period, providing flexibility to meet your short and long term license requirements. In addition to the existing perpetual licensing model, the term licensing support model ensures you have access to the latest features, updates, and support for the duration of your subscription. Typically, the term license for GE Vernova Proficy products range from 3 to 5 years. Once the term license expires, you must renew the license to continue using the Proficy software.

Activating Licenses on a Computer with a USB Hardware Key Inserted

Procedure

Insert a USB hardware key.
On the Activate Licenses tab, select 3 Yes, for the inserted hardware key.
If you did not install the Sentinel USB drivers, the following error messages appear and the icon in the footer.

If you did install the Sentinel USB drivers, the License Client detects and reads the USB hardware key (up to two minutes), and then the Activate Licenses on USB Hardware Key page appears.
For each license you want to add, enter the activation code and select Add Code.
As you specify these activation codes, they appear on the page.
Note:
- If you have obtained tag pooling codes, you can activate the licenses using these codes with your USB hardware key. However, the pooling codes are only applicable to the configurable USB hardware key (Advantage Hardware key). To apply the tag pooling licenses to your base Proficy license, refer to the activation procedure, which is similar to activating licenses from the Cloud Server (Applying Proficy Licenses using Tag Pooling from Cloud Server).
- The tag pooling feature is not applicable to the M4 or M5 hardware keys.
When all activation codes are entered, select Activate.
The View Licenses page appears, displaying all active licenses on your computer.
