Many North American utility companies report generation and loss event data to the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) using applications such as the Generating Availability Database System (GADS). Meridium Enterprise APM’s Generation Availability Analysis (GAA) module uses the Meridium Enterprise APM's core functionality to help you record generation and loss data for each unit in your company. Using GAA, you can easily enter event and fuel consumption data into records. You can then generate reports that follow the GADS data-reporting requirements and send the reports to NERC.
In addition, Meridium Enterprise APM Generation Availability Analysis allows you to view general information, such as the unit type and megawatt rating, for other utility companies that are reporting information to NERC. Therefore, not only can you record and analyze detailed data about your company, but you can also compare your data to that of other utility companies.
Unlike other GADS-reporting products, Meridium Enterprise APM Generation Availability Analysis lets you go beyond simple data collection and reporting to analyze your power generation data further using other Meridium Enterprise APM features.
If you see that your data indicates a need for action, you might also use Meridium Enterprise APM to create work orders for individual units. If you want to analyze the reliability of your units, you can use Meridium Enterprise APM Reliability Analytics to create system models reflecting the components in your power system. You can use Root Cause Analysis® for Meridium Enterprise APM to conduct a root cause analysis on a unit's failure to produce the desired output.
