First Steps in Troubleshooting

Check these items as first steps in troubleshooting:

  • Check the Plant Applications log files in ..\Plant Applications\Server\LogFiles for large file size and errors.

  • Check the SQL Server log file in Enterprise Manager à Management à SQL Server Logs for large file size and errors.

  • Check the server CPU usage through the Windows Task Manager for excessive memory consumption by a particular process.

  • Check the current activity through the Administrator Server Troubleshooting tools or by running the spSupport_ShowRunning stored procedure in Management Studio or by checking Enterprise Manager à Management à Current Activity.
