Changing the Description to Import or Export Multiple Events from Excel
Importing events to or from Excel requires that multiple user-defined events (UDEs) or production events with different subtypes have unique descriptions. Because descriptions may not be unique when events are created, you may need to change the descriptions in Excel before importing them to another unit.
In the following example, an event for a soup mixer is renamed to enable importing and exporting of multiple UDEs on a unit. The beginning configuration is as shown:
Follow these steps to create unique event names:
-
Right-click on the Unit containing the UDE, and select Export <unit name>.
-
Select the following components for export as shown below:
-
On the EventConfigurationProperties tab, copy the existing UDE records, and paste them to a separate line in the spreadsheet.
-
On the Events tab, copy the existing UDE record, and then paste it to a separate line item on the spreadsheet.
-
Update the records that were copied as shown below by assigning a unique name in the EventDescription field in the Events Tab. In the example, “User Defined Event – Script” is modified to “UDES Soup Line – Event Creation.”
-
Assign a unique name in the Update the Model Description field in the EventConfigurationProperites Tab. The value should match the value provided for the EventDescription, that is “UDES Soup Line – Event Creation.”
-
After updating the records, select Import Configuration from the right-click menu for the unit.
When the import is successfully completed, a message is displayed.
Refresh the Plant Applications Administrator, and then go to the Event Configuration screen to view the new UDE model configuration as shown in the result below:
