About RBI Recommendations

Note: Unless otherwise specified, the content in this topic is applicable to both RBI 580 and RBI 581 methodologies.

An RBI Recommendation stores information about actions that should be performed to help mitigate the risk associated with a degradation mechanism. Each RBI Recommendation record is linked to:

An RBI Degradation Mechanism, which defines the type of failure that the recommended action can help mitigate.
An Equipment, which defines the piece of equipment to which the recommendation applies.
An RBI Analysis.

Generating Recommendations

Meridium Enterprise APM generates Recommendations for:

In RBI 581, you can generate Recommendations based on the policies that are mapped to the RBI Strategies only if:

Inspection Planning suggests a Target Completion Date for an analysis.
The Inspection Will Mitigate field in the RBI Analysis is set to Yes.
The state of the analysis is Risk Completed.

These Recommendations are:

Non-recurring if the methodology is RBI 581.
Recurring if the methodology is RBI 580.

If the methodology is RBI 580, Recommendations are generated for Degradation Mechanisms that are related to all RBI 581 Damage Mechanism Methodologies. However, If the methodology is RBI 581, Recommendations are generated for Degradation Mechanisms that are related only to the following Damage Mechanism Methodologies:

RBI 581 Cracking Damage Evaluation
RBI 581 External Cracking Damage Evaluation
RBI 581 External Damage Evaluation
RBI 581 Thinning and Lining Evaluation

You can promote these Recommendations to Asset Strategy Management (ASM), where they are converted into Inspection Tasks.
