Tag Filters
About Tag Filters
Filters can be enabled and customized for each plotted tag.

Value-Based filters, when applied to plotted tag and tag expressions, allow you to restrict the data on a chart to a specific range and apply globally to all charts on the view. Conditional filters, when applied to plotted tag and tag expressions, exclude all data on the chart that falls outside the filter settings and apply to all the tags on the chart.

When a tag is part of a tag series, the filter icon appears for the tag, not the tag series. If both tags in a tag series have filters applied, both the tags display the filter icon. Changes to data in the filter apply to all occurrences of the tag on the charts and in the Plotted Tag section.
Filters can be modified to change the minimum and maximum parameter values. You can also specify a range using the slider handles and then slide the range across the slider bar in order to change the minimum and maximum parameter values. You can invert the filter to display data outside the restricted range. You can apply multiple filters to a chart at a time. You can reset or clear a filter, allowing the full data range to appear on the charts.
Filters on tags or tag series can be saved to a template. Filtered tags or tag series on a view do not affect other views or templates.
Create Value-Based Filters
Use value-based filters to restrict visible data to a minimum and maximum range on the Y-axis for plotted tags or tag expressions.
Before You Begin
About This Task
A value-based filter allows you to exclude all data on the chart that falls outside the min and max settings for the tag or tag expression selected. All other tags or tag expressions on the chart are not affected. This allows you to focus on the relevant data within the set parameters. Additional filters that are value-based can also be set for other tags or tag expressions on the chart.
Filters can be applied to tags on both Time Series Analysis and Event Data Analysis views. In an Event Data Analysis chart, the min and max values are based on the tag data specific to the events time range, not the entire tag range.

Minimum and maximum filter values for tags or tag expressions can be modified by entering specific values or dragging the bars on the slider.
Filtering for plotted tags and tag expressions can be saved as part of an analysis template; however. when a date range is changed for a plotted tag expression on a template, the filter is not saved.
Procedure
Create Conditional Filters
Use conditional filters to display data where the filtered range for all tags or tag expressions on the chart is valid for the conditionalized tag or tag expression.
Before You Begin
About This Task
Conditionalized filters allow you to filter all the data in the charts and template to display data when the condition is true. This allows you to display data in the charts based on the operating mode of the equipment.
A conditionalized filter allows you to exclude all data on the chart that falls outside the min and max settings for the tag or tag expression selected. All other tags or tag expressions on the chart also exclude data outside these settings. This allows you to focus on the relevant data within the set parameters. You can set additional conditional filters for other tags or tag expressions, making the data range set cumulative. Separate filters that are value-based can also be set for other tags or tag expressions on the chart.

- If the parameters set for a value-based filter are inside the parameters set for conditional filters, the conditional filters adjust data for all tags or tag expressions to the narrowest parameters set for all the conditional filters. The value-based filter further adjusts data for the tag or tag expression only.
- If one or both parameters set for value-based filter are outside the parameters set for conditional filters, the conditional filters adjust data for all tags or tag expressions to the narrowest parameters set for all the conditional filters. The parameters set for the value-based filter that are outside the parameters set for the conditional filter adjust to the conditional filter parameters.

Filtering for plotted tags and tag expressions can be saved as part of an analysis template, however, when a date range is changed for a plotted tag expression on a template, the filter is not saved.
Procedure
Create Custom Discrete Filters
Use custom discrete filters to display data where the tags or tag expressions are filtered for discrete values instead of a continuous range.

Invert Filter Values
Use the Invert Filter icon to toggle displayed data inside and outside of the restricted data range for a plotted tag.
Before You Begin
About This Task
Inverting a filter set up for a data range allows you to switch the data for a plotted tag to inside or outside the set range.
Filters can be applied and inverted for tags on both Time Series Analysis and Event Data Analysis views. Plotted tags with filters applied appear in the Plotted Tags list with . Plotted tags that are part of a tag series are filtered separately.
Procedure
Reset the Filters
You can reset all filters for plotted tags on charts or clear a specific filter to display its default value.
About This Task
Tag Filters can be reset to their default values for all plotted tags in a view, or a specific tag filter can be cleared to display default data for that plotted tag.
Filters can be applied and reset for tags on both Time Series Analysis and Event Data Analysis views. Plotted tags with filters applied appear in the Plotted Tags list alongside . Plotted tags that are part of a tag series are filtered separately.
Procedure
Mute and Unmute a Filter
You can mute or unmute a filter in the Tag Filters pane.
About This Task
Filter lists for plotted tags and tag expressions appear in the Tag Filters pane, where you can apply value-based or conditional filters. Muting a filter for a tag or tag expression on a chart allows you to display the full data for the selected tag or tag expression without clearing or resetting the filter. Filters are available for all template types.
Muting a conditional filter affects all the tags or tag expressions on the chart. Muting a value-based filter affects all charts on the view where the selected tag or tag expression is in use.
Procedure
- To mute a filter:
- To unmute a filter:
Share the Tag Filters
You can share filters for tags and tag expressions to templates that are available to you.
About This Task
Default filters use threshold values that are expected for each tag. You can change filter settings for a tag, save or update them as a template, then share them with templates that are available to you.
You can share a filter from an Alert Analysis Chart or an Analysis Chart. Filters can be value-based or conditional and are shared to other Analysis Templates.
When you share a filter on a view, it is applied to one or more templates selected by you. Templates with shared filters can then be viewed, modified, and associated with an Alert Template. Templates with modified filters affect existing templates associated with the Alert Template. You can share filters across public and private templates.
The name of the shared filter cannot be modified.
When sharing a filter, you can select from private templates and public templates associated with the selected asset context, both instance and class. Templates with successfully shared filters are available for additional filter sharing.
Shared filters are muted after sharing and must be unmuted on the receiving template. If a shared filter's tag is not plotted on the receiving template, the filter name is orange. You must plot the tag prior to saving the receiving template.
