Activate or Disable Permission Sets or Permissions for Assets

Before You Begin

You must be logged into APM as a user administrator.

About This Task

Important: Ensure that the APM Next permission set is activated for all the users. Only then, users can access APM. If you have upgraded from a previous version, the GE Vernova Customer Support team automatically activates the APM Next permission set for all the existing users. For new users, however, you must activate the permission set.

Deactivating a permission set for a user removes access to those features. Deactivating the permission set prevents the user from accessing features associated with that permission set. A user without any permission sets can continue to log in to APM. However, the user is unable to use any features. You must add permission sets to the user, or assign a user to a user group, to regain access to features. You can also deactivate access to assets for users and user groups. Deactivating all assets also deactivates all asset-related features.

Procedure

  1. In the Applications menu, navigate to ADMIN > Predix Administrator > Users.
  2. Select the row containing the user for whom you want to activate or disable permission sets or permissions for assets.
Note: To freeze a column so that it remains visible when you scroll horizontally, or to hide a column, hover over the name of the column you want to freeze or hide, select , and then select your desired action.
    The Edit User page appears.
  3. In the Edit User page, do one of the following:
    • If you want to grant access to a permission set for a user, select Assign Permission Set, and then select an existing permission set or create a new permission set.
    • If you want to remove access to a permission set for a user, in the row containing the permission set you want to remove, select , and then select Remove Assignment.
  4. Repeat the previous step for each permission set and asset as needed.
  5. Select Done.
Tip: To disable a user, remove all the assigned permissions sets and groups from that user.

Results

Changes take effect immediately. You must activate the permission set and assets for the user to have access to the assigned features of the permission set and assets.
