Cost-effective power

Get to know our 9HA.02 gas turbine

As Vietnam’s economy grows and electrification expands, the need for more reliable, affordable baseload power becomes increasingly urgent. With more renewable energy entering the grid, always-available generation is essential. That’s where heavy-duty gas turbines come in—helping to deliver high-efficiency power, with reduced fuel to power cost conversion—supporting the country’s long-term energy goals.

More reliable power—with less spend

GE Vernova’s HA gas turbine fleet is engineered for high-class efficiency, performance, and scale. With the lowest cost conversion of fuel to power in the conventional industry, the HA fleet generates more electricity at a lower cost—while reducing maintenance requirements and carbon emissions. With over 3 million operating hours globally, these turbines offer a proven solution for energy producers and consumers in Vietnam looking to lower electricity costs without compromising reliability or sustainability.

With the 9HA.02 gas turbine fleet, you can benefit from higher combined-cycle efficiency:

  • Higher combined-cycle efficiency
  • Operational flexibility
  • Proven technology, global experience
  • Lower emissions
  • Industry-leading reliability and availability
  • Reduced installation time and cost
  • Ease of maintenance
  • Local presence

Flexible long-term power

Meeting tomorrow’s capacity planning challenges—today

Grid firming, also known as capacity or renewable firming, involves adding reliable energy resources to renewable power plants to help ensure stable power. Flexible power technology—like aeroderivative gas turbines—supports rapid deployment, fast ramp-up and ramp-down, and smooth variable load balancing, making it integrate well with renewables, an essential capability for Vietnam’s power network.

Introducing aeroderivative gas turbines

Born from aviation technology, GE Vernova’s aeroderivative portfolio can be used in a wide variety of applications, including utility generation, district heating, mobile power, fast power, and of course, grid stability. These turbines are well-suited for captive power applications such as combined heat and power (CHP) or cogeneration, providing efficient, on-site electricity and thermal energy for industrial facilities and data centers.

The LM2500XPRESS can run on 35% hydrogen, and when an SCR is added to the unit to reduce emissions even further, NOx can be reduced to 2.5 ppm and CO to 4ppm.

A global shift

Powering tomorrow

Vietnam has come a long way since the severe electricity shortages of the 80s and 90s. With today’s electrification rate of 100%, Vietnam’s power capacity has reached 77,600 MW, first in Southeast Asia. The coal-to-gas transition will be key to enabling the growth of renewables and helping to address the energy trilemma of reliability, affordability, and sustainability.
