Overview

Overview of the Analysis V2 Module

The Analysis V2 module allows you to visualize and analyze data from sensors on assets. Analysis V2 optimizes key workflows, enhances user experience, boosts user productivity, and has improved performance and security.
Note: This document contains information about Analysis V2 only. For information on the previous version of Analysis, refer to Analysis Overview.
Advantages of using Analysis V2:
  • Access time series data related to selected assets.
  • Identify potential issues with assets.
  • Diagnose the root cause of an alert.
  • Respond to a customer query about asset performance.
Features:
  • Tags: You can create tags for sensor data or calculated time-series data. You can switch between the tag alias defined in Essentials and the tag name defined in your organization. When you select a plotted tag name, the tag name and the alias appear.
  • Analysis charts: You can access a collection of tags, tag attributes, and tag expressions that are associated with a chart within the Analysis template. Some charts use pairs of tags where the actions are based on the pairs rather than the individual tags.
  • Asset Hierarchy: You can use the context browser to filter and select assets for analysis. You can also add and compare multiple assets.
  • Adhoc analysis views: You can select the assets and tags for analysis. In the adhoc analysis views, you can use any of the following options:
    • Time series view: Uses time series data for the selected assets.
    • Event data analysis view: Uses time series data within event frames for the selected assets.
  • Tag browser: You can select tags, asset attributes, and tag expressions using the tag browser. You can add assets and their tags. You can search for tags to plot, which are filtered based on the asset context or charts plotted in a template.
  • Plotted tags: You can view lists of tags and charts that are plotted. Some tags use pairs of tags where the actions are based on the pairs rather than the individual tags.
  • Tag expressions: Tag expressions are calculations using assets and tags. Tag expressions can include conditions and functions. You can create and update tag expressions, which are then added to the tag browser for the asset context. You can also embed existing tag expressions within another tag expression. You can then plot them on a chart.
  • Tag filters: You can filter plotted tags or invert the filtering for plotted tags. You can also mute a filter globally for a selected tag.
  • Tag search browser: You can search throughout the enterprise for specific tags or correlated tags using modifiers such as the tag name, source key, tags in the current asset context, tag classification name, and tag attribute value. You can then include the tags in a chart.
  • Analysis templates: You can create templates for time series data for plotted tags associated with a specific assets, group of assets or asset classification. You can use these analysis templates in an alert template to visualize the alert data. You can save both the time series views and the event data analysis views as analysis templates.
  • Alert analysis chart view: You can generate a chart view using an analysis template and the alert information to provide data visualization for an alert. Alerts require an alert template to determine the analysis chart views it uses or can use.
  • Operations Performance Monitoring (OPM) data analysis: You can analyze OPM data (subject to subscription by tenant). For information, refer to the OPM documentation.
  • Analysis cards: You can add charts to an analysis card to view multiple charts in a single page.
Tip: You can expand the Analysis Overview page by selecting in the module navigation menu.

Access the Analysis Overview Page

Procedure

In the Applications menu, navigate to the HEALTH section, and then select Analysis V2.
The Analysis Overview page appears, displaying the following information about the Analysis templates.
ColumnDescription
TEMPLATE NAMEThe analysis template associated with an asset or classification.
CLASSIFICATION/ASSET NAMEThe asset classification or the asset instance that is associated with the analysis template.
CREATED DATEThe date on which the Analysis template was created.
CREATED USERThe name of the individual who created the analysis template.
KINDThe kind of view that is applied to the analysis template.
TEMPLATE TYPEThe template type, Classification or Instance, based on the assets or asset instance to which the analysis template is associated.
UPDATED DATEThe date on which the analysis template was last updated.
UPDATED USERThe name of the individual who last updated the analysis template.
VISIBILTYThe type of visibility, Public or Private, based on the users to whom the analysis template is visible.

Access an Analysis Template

Procedure

  1. Access the Analysis Overview Page.
  2. In the TEMPLATE NAME column, select the template that you want to access.
For an analysis template associated with a classification, the Asset Hierarchy appears, displaying all the assets associated with the same classification. If you have selected an analysis template associated with an asset instance, the template for the selected asset appears.
  3. In the Asset Hierarchy, select the asset for which you want to access the template.
The analysis template of the selected asset appears.
Tip: To navigate back to the Analysis Overview page, in the heading, select .

Results

You can view and access analysis templates based on your user privileges.

Filter Analysis Templates

Procedure

  1. Access the Analysis Overview Page.
  2. Below the heading of the column using which you want to filter, in the Filter box, enter the filter criteria.
For example, to access all the templates of the Classification template type, enter Class in the Filter box in the TEMPLATE TYPE column.
Note: By default, the Filter box appears below the column header of all the columns. If needed, select to remove the Filter box.
Alternatively, select to view the pre-defined filter sets that you can use to filter the analysis templates. For example, to find all entries with template type of classification, select Classification in the TEMPLATE TYPE column filter set.
Note: The option is not available for some of the columns such as TEMPLATE NAME, CREATED DATE, and UPDATED DATE.
The analysis templates are filtered based on the criteria you have specified.
