Charts

About Charts

You can use charts to evaluate asset data using various views.

Features:
  • You can access a collection of tags, tag attributes, and tag expressions that are associated with a chart within the Analysis template. Some charts use pairs of tags where the actions are based on the pairs rather than the individual tags.
  • When creating a chart, you can save the analysis view, making it available as a Analysis Template.
  • You can set your timezone preference and data resolution.
Important: Data resolution and date range selected are related.
  • You can add different chart types to a single card. For information on the minimum number of tags required to create a chart, refer to Chart Types.

Access a Chart

Procedure

  1. To access a chart via a Template:
    1. In the TEMPLATE NAME column, select the template that contains the chart that you want to access.
    2. In the Asset Hierarchy, select an asset context.
The selected template appears, displaying the charts in the default card.
  2. To access a chart via an adhoc Analysis:
    1. In the Applications menu, navigate to the HEALTH section, and then select Analysis V2.
    2. In the Create Analysis box, select one of the options for an adhoc analysis.
    3. In the Asset Hierarchy, select an asset context.
The selected Analysis appears, displaying the charts.

Access a Chart from an Alert

You can use an Analysis View template to review performance charts associated with an alert and to gather evidence to help resolve the alert. This is applicable to both Asset Data and SmartSignal alerts.

About This Task

When an asset source connects to the time-series database, designated analytics parse the data using threshold values. If one or more threshold values are not met, Essentials generates an alert using an associated alert template.

Analysis View templates automatically populate the asset and assign a default time range and view for the chart.

When you select a SmartSignal Analysis View chart in an alert, all of the generated alerts for the selected asset are visible in the Tag Browser.

Procedure

  1. In the Applications menu, navigate to the HEALTH section, and then select Alerts.
  2. Select an alert from the Alert Inbox.
Tip: You can filter the list of alerts based on Unclaimed, SmartSignal, or a filter containing an Analysis View chart.
  3. In the details page, select Default Analysis View.
  4. Select to expand the Tag Panel.
One or more charts depending upon your alert and Analysis V2 chart template selection appear in the Analysis V2 module. Customer Data Center data displays a single chart, whereas SmartSignal data displays a dynamic list of charts. SmartSignal alerts include both contributing tags (tags that have contributed to the alert) and non-contributing tags (participated in the analytic for which the advisory was created).
When you access the charts, if one or more charts fail to load, a message appears, displaying the count of the failed charts for the selected card. Select Retry to reload the charts completely and only the failed charts are reloaded. You can also retry loading the data for a specific failed chart.
  5. Modify the chart as needed.
    For example, you can:
    • View tag information
    • Display only the real values or analytics-predicted values for tags
    • Find or plot additional tags. The list of plotted tags is based on the alert template in use. When an alert template does not exist, the list of plotted tags is retrieved from the alert.
    • Change the date range
    • Mute or unmute data on the chart
    • Zoom in on an area on a chart
    • View chart data in a tooltip
    • Save a chart as an evidence to an alert or a case
    • Add threshold lines to a chart
    • Update the Analysis View template

Add a Chart to a Card

You can add multiple Analysis V2 and SmartSignal charts to a card. You can add up to 60 charts to a card. You can then modify the chart name, select a chart type, and then begin plotting the chart.

Procedure

  1. Access the card to which you want to add a chart.
  2. Select Add Chart, and then select the chart type.

Zoom in Chart Data

About This Task

You can zoom chart data for both a Time Series Analysis and an Event Data Analysis view. You can zoom in a chart in the following methods:
  • Along the x-axis: Allows you to control the time range available for analysis. This method is applicable to Time Series and X-Y charts only.
  • Along the y-axis: Allows you to control the range of values that are relevant for the analysis. This method is applicable to Time Series and X-Y charts only.
  • Along both the axes: Allows you to zoom in along both the axes, based on the center of the chart. This is the default option.
The following conditions apply when you zoom in a chart:
  • You can undo or reset the zoom settings.
  • When you zoom in a chart, the data resolution is set to default or the actual number of data points, whichever is less.
  • If there are multiple charts in the view, zooming in one of the charts magnifies the remaining charts as well.
  • The zooming in setting is synchronized across Analysis charts or SmartSignal charts but not both.

Procedure

  1. Access the chart the you want to zoom in.
  2. Select .
  3. Depending on whether you want to zoom in using a single axis or both, select , , or .
