What's New in Historian 2025
The following are the new enhancements as a part of Historian 2025 release.
Description |
---|
Proficy Historian Kafka Connect Proficy Historian Kafka Connect significantly strengthens connectivity by enabling seamless real-time and historical time series data exchange between Proficy Historian and Kafka brokers, using the Apache Avro™ data format. It operates on a Pub/Sub model, similar to other Kafka connectors. The Proficy Historian Kafka Connect has the following two important components: Historian Kafka Consumer, and Historian Kafka Producer. You can configure the Proficy Historian Kafka Connect as either a producer, to publish Proficy Historian data to Kafka topics, or as a consumer, to subscribe to Kafka topics, retrieve data published by different Kafka producers, and store them in the Proficy Historian database. To cater this enhancement, a new section "Kafka Connect" is included in the Configuration Hub plugin for Historian. For more information, see Overview of Proficy Historian Kafka Connect. |
Interactive SQL Plugin for Configuration Hub A newly introduced plugin enables connectivity to any data source supporting OLEDB providers, including Historian, Proficy Plant Applications, and Wonderware. This functionality allows you to perform SQL queries directly on these data sources, facilitating efficient data retrieval and analysis. Additionally, you can save queries to reuse them in the future, and modify saved queries anytime. For more information, see Overview of Interactive SQL. |
Strengthening Security Through Password
Encryption Security enhancement has been implemented
by encrypting passwords before storage. Unlike previous
versions, where passwords were stored in plain text or written
to install logs, they are now securely encrypted, providing
better protection for your credentials. This enhancement
strengthens data security by safeguarding sensitive
information. Note: When upgrading
Historian Collectors from previous versions to the 2025
version, the existing password will not be encrypted by
default. If you want your password to be encrypted, you can
update the password using Configuration Hub. For more
information on how to update the collector credential, see
Update Collector Credentials |
Remote Management of Log and SHW Files You can access the log files and shw files of all the applicable Historian components such as Collectors, Proficy Historian Kafka Connect instances, data archivers, and more, from a single place using the Historian Plugin in Configuration Hub. To cater this enhancement, a new section "Troubleshoot" is included in the Configuration Hub plugin for Historian. For more information, see Troubleshoot Overview. |
Enhanced Configuration Reports You can now select multiple collectors for a selected report and get the data. Additionally, you can perform specific actions based on the generated report data. To cater this enhancement, an option to select multiple collectors is added. For more information, see About Reports and Generate Reports. |
Enhanced Tag Management REST API Methods In addition to the existing APIs to delete tags and rename tags, two new APIs have been added. With this enhancement, you can pass the tag name in the Request body payload. For more information, see The Delete Tag API and The Tag Rename API. |
Effectively Manage Connected Clients You can now access all the Clients connected to a same Historian server, view their details, and manage security configurations for all the connected clients from one machine. To cater this enhancement, new section "Clients" is included in the Configuration Hub plugin for Historian. For more information, see About Security Management for Connected Clients. |
Localization of Configuration Hub User Interface
