About Purging

Your Plant Applications (that is, production) database can accumulate enormous amounts of data. Due to this, upgrading your production database and performing certain operations on it can be a time-consuming process. To expedite this process, you can purge some of your data.

Using Proficy Manufacturing Data Cloud (Proficy MDC), you can purge your data after the data is ingested to Predix Cloud and validated. There are two types of purge:

• Periodic Purge: Used to purge small amounts of data that has been accumulated for a duration ranging from a few hours to a few days or months.
• Large Purge: Used to purge large amounts of data that has been accumulated for a duration ranging from a year to several years.
