Leading a new chapter

Reliability driven by workhorse wind products

At GE Vernova’s Wind business, we're leading a new chapter in the wind industry, with the world's best running fleet of high-tech turbines that enable quality and reliability at scale.

Our workhorse products are configured to be deployed in large fleets with fewer variants; with technology built on long-cycle validation, sustainable and efficient supply chains, and improved operations through repeatability and reduced complexity.

Our focused product leadership consists of these offerings:

  • 3 MW: Onshore megawatt constrained
  • 4 MW: Extreme wind conditions
  • 6 MW: Onshore land constrained
  • Haliade-X: Offshore
  • Life extension: Repower

Turbine features and accessories

Condition monitoring system (CMS)

GE Vernova’s CMS and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) anomaly detection services include a complementary suite of advanced condition monitoring solutions. These systems can proactively detect impending drive train, gearbox generator, and blade issues—enabling increased availability and decreased maintenance expenses—helping to lower the wind turbine’s operation cost. Built upon half a century of power generation drivetrain and data anomaly monitoring experience, this service solution is now standard on all of GE Vernova’s 3 MW turbine platform.

Blade leading edge protection

ProBlade Ultra is the next generation polymeric leading edge protection (LEP) solution, built on four years of experiments in LM Wind Power’s Rain Erosion Test Center (part of GE Vernova). Made from an elastomeric and resilient polymer—with pressure-sensitive adhesive—ProBlade Ultra offers significantly lower Annual Energy Production (AEP) than other LEP solutions, thanks to its enhanced dimensions and placement on the turbine blade’s leading edge. ProBlade Ultra installs quickly and reduces the need for leading edge repairs due to its high durability and excellent erosion resistance.

WindCONTROL monitoring software

Our monitoring software exploits the individual wind turbine’s reactive power capability to meet a voltage, power factor, and reactive set point at the wind farm’s interconnection point.

WindFREE™ reactive power control

Sustained winds either below minimum or above maximum speeds can stop all megawatt-class wind turbines. WindFREE—available for a variety of GE Vernova models—helps enable reactive power generation or consumption even when the turbines are stopped due to unfavorable wind conditions.

Key features:

• Tight voltage regulation under all conditions.

• Increased system security for grid events.

• Security from system voltage disturbances due to wind-induced wind turbine generator tripping.

• More economic system operation by reducing or eliminating transmission reinforcement requirements.

• Reduced requirements for local, must-run generation.

Yaw control power backup

Supplies electrical power from an external battery to keep the blades pointed into the wind in the event of a typhoon and grid outage, reducing the exposure to extreme loads.
