Upgrade Plant Applications from Version 7.0 to Version 7.0 SP5 SIM4 Build 716

This topic describes how to upgrade Plant Applications from version 7.0 to version 7.0 SP5 SIM4 build 716 to work with Proficy MDC.

Before you begin

  • Ensure that incremental data is being ingested to the file system.
  • If a transaction log backup job is running, stop the job.

Procedure

  1. Access the AWS DMS console, and stop incremental task for the site. To do so, perform the following steps:
    1. Select the database, select the migration task, and then click on Actions.
    2. Select Stop.
  2. If you want to upgrade the database and the operating system, refer to Upgrade the Database and the Operating System, and then install Plant Applications 7.0.
    Tip:
    For instructions on installing Plant Applications, refer to the topics Installing the Proficy Application Server, Installing the Plant Applications Server, Installing the Report Server, Installing the Plant Applications Client and Administrator in the Plant Applications Getting Started Guide.
  3. In AWS DMS, configure the HandleSourceTableAltered action on the SRC group.
  4. Remove Workflow tables from the article list by running the script for version 7.0.
  5. Run the SQL scripts to decrypt stored procedures.
    Tip:
    • Contact the Support team for the SQL scripts.
    • Use the Scripts.exe file in the following folder to run the scripts: <Plant Applications installation folder>\Proficy\Proficy Server\Database
  6. Ensure that the capture and integrate jobs are not running, and run the following files in the given order to install Plant Applications 7.0 build 179; these files are available in the Plant Applications installation folder.
    1. PA70ServerHotfixSetup
    2. PA70WebServerHotfixSetup
    3. PA70ClientHotfixSetup
    Tip:
    After you run the server set up files, you can verify that there are no errors by accessing the following log files:
    • <Plant Applications installation folder>\Proficy\PlantApplications\Server70Hotfix179\UpgradeScripts\ExecuteScript
    • <Plant Applications installation folder>\Proficy\PlantApplications\WebServer70HotFix179\UpgradeScripts\ExecuteScript
  7. Repeat the previous step to install Plant Applications 7.0 build 448.
    After you run the PA70ServerHotfixSetup file, an error occurs. To fix this error, run the following SQL scripts:
    • Script to create table types
    • Scripts in the 004_448_Hotfix_Working.zip file
      Tip:
      • Contact the Support team for the scripts.
      • Use the Scripts.exe file located in the following folder to run the scripts: <Plant Applications installation folder>\Proficy\Proficy Server\Database
      • You can access the ExecuteScript log file to verify that there are no errors.
  8. Repeat step 6 to install Plant Applications 7.0 build 716.
  9. Start the incremental task for the site. To do so, perform the following steps:
    1. Select the database, select the migration task, and then click on Actions.
    2. Select Start.

Results

Plant Applications is now upgraded to version 7.0 SP5 SIM4 build 716 to work with Proficy MDC.
