Multiple Parent/Child Links
It is possible to have multiple genealogy links between parent and child events. A common application of this is if a batch is feeding another downstream batch in incremental amounts over the course of the batch run as opposed to a single transfer. Rather than updating the Dimension_X field of the original link (and losing the history of the transfers), it is better to create multiple genealogy links, each with their own time stamp and quantity. The Genealogy View will correctly display all of the genealogy links when there are more than one.
Furthermore, it is possible to have multiple genealogy links in a multi-level family tree. In these cases, the Event_Components table has a field called Parent_Component_Id that can be used to record which material transfer into the intermediate event is related to the material transfer out of the intermediate event.
