APM Release Notes for the Fourth Quarter of 2018

Alerts

This topic provides a list of product changes released for this module on the dates listed below.

Release Date: December 14, 2018

Table 1. Enhancements and New Features
DescriptionTracking ID
In your current tenant, you can now view the General Visibility alerts of a shared asset that belongs to the shared tenant. In addition, you can also add notes and evidences to the alert.
  • F37660
  • F37337
Now, when you update and save an analysis for an alert, the analysis chart is attached as an evidence in the Evidence section of the alert.F34562
You can now view the default analysis chart for multiple SmartSignal Alerts simultaneously. To facilitate this enhancement, the View Default Analysis Chart option has been added to the Bulk Actions drop-down list box.F34240

Limitations

  • Even though you have access to assets and enterprises of another tenant, for the alerts to appear in the inbox and grid view, you must have access to at least one asset of the same tenant to which you belong.
  • The Events section in the Asset Instance page does not display alerts that belong to another tenant.
  • At a time, you should not access alerts from more than five tenants. Doing so may degrade the performance of the GE Digital APM application.
  • When a user updates an alert that belongs to another tenant, you will not receive any email notification about the change even though you have subscribed to the alert.

Analysis

This topic provides a list of product changes released for this module.

Table 2. Enhancements and New Features
DescriptionTracking ID
SmartSignal supports configuration of the shape, color, row position, and rendering priority for all the static and dynamic and rule event markers.F38717
You can now view inactive SmartSignal Analytic models in the Tag Browser so that the user can view the inactive tags in a model and plot them on the charts.F38546
You can now display positive and negative thresholds on SmartSignal residual charts to enable you to view the thresholds that have been exceeded when the tag rules are triggered on a SmartSignal Analytic tag.F38197
The following enhancements have been made:
  • Support up to 100 tags in the Data Grid chart. This may cause performance issues in the Browser so it is recommended that users do not plot any other charts on the card with the Data Grid that contains more than 40 tags.
  • Added tag details to plotted tags in Alert View Template view for SmartSignal charts.
  • Added the ability to switch between Source Tags and Tag Alias for SmartSignal charts. This allows the different user persona to view the tags in the mode that they recognize.
  • Added the ability to view additional tag information on the SmartSignal charts. This includes the alias of the tag in parenthesis, the source tag name, and the tag description (if available).
F38070
You can now view all the templates created on the shared asset in the current tenant, and view any templates created on the shared assets by the shared to tenant. You can also view all public templates created on the shared asset, but you cannot modify it. F36995
To enhance usability, you can now associate an Analysis template, including SmartSignal charts, to an Asset classification. F36078
You can now use SmartSignal Analytics to monitor assets and to create a default analysis template that visualizes the SmartSignal Analytics tags associated with the asset. You can now visualize the assets using the same template for both Asset instances and Asset classifications. F36077
To group data events and to visualize them in Bar chart form, you can now plot data in an analysis as a Bar chart using the Event Based Analysis templates. F36075
To enhance usability, you can now search for and navigate to a specific enterprise, site, segment, or asset in the Context Browser. When selecting an item returned from the Context Browser, this is used to set the context of the Context Browser in Analysis.F36074
To enhance usability, in the New Time Series Analysis page, you can now select two data points on the chart and view the values of all the tags on the chart for the selected time stamps, as well as the delta between the values of the tags for the selected time stamps in both absolute and percentages.F36073
The following enhancements have been made:
  • Enabled the direction arrow in Polar charts to display the direction of change.
  • Enabled you to view the tag aliases in AVT flow to allow you to view the tags in their preferred form.
  • Scale the axis on the time series charts to accommodate the thresholds on the charts.
  • Allow you to select line style and line color for tag thresholds and save them to the template.
  • Sort the advanced search results in alphabetical order to allow you to find the tags of interest easily.
  • Sort the template names in analysis in alphabetical order to allow you to find the templates easily.
  • Enhanced tick markers on charts to ensure that each tick has a unique value when you zoom into charts.
F34719
You can now view assets from another tenant that have been shared with the current tenant. For the assets, you can now create templates for these assets, plot tags based on these assets, and save the templates.F34712
You can now view the default analysis for multiple SmartSignal alerts in a single analysis view across one or more assets.F33717
To enhance usability, on the time series chart you can highlight a section of data points on the y-axis and have the data points in the selected time range reflected on all the other charts in the card.F33666
You can now save the current analysis state as an evidence to an alert or case. You can now get back to this state of the analysis from the Alert or Case, modify it, update it, and save it again to the Alert or Case by overwriting the existing evidence or save it as a new evidence. F33488
You can now set the range of the axis for a chart. This allows you to focus on the range of values that is most relevant for the analysis. This is available for Time Series charts, X-Y charts, and Polar charts. F33460
You can now view the value of tags across the occurrences of an event in Event Based Analysis as a time series chart. This allows you to visualize the change on the selected tags across the various occurrences of the event to identify potential degradation of the asset over time.F24485
Table 3. Known Issues
DescriptionTracking ID
When you delete tags on a time series chart after you have plotted pin markers, the deleted tags appear in the marker data table. The workaround for this is to delete the tags, and then set the pins on the charts.DE95436
When you make changes to the time series chart in multi y-axis mode, and you cancel out of it, then the changes do not get applied and are not visible in chart settings. The workaround for this is to create the template for an ad hoc view. Or, save the template, and make your changes for an existing template. DE93811

Analytics

This topic provides a list of product changes released for this module on the dates listed below.

Release Date: December 14, 2018

Table 4. Enhancements and New Features
DescriptionTracking ID
To enhance the performance during orchestration deployment, Application Analytics now caches data between orchestration steps.F37992
To enhance the usability in accessing relevant deployments, you can now:
  • Filter the deployment results using the deployment name or Analytic Template name in the keyword search.
  • Search and retrieve related deployments by assets or entity ID. If the asset ID matches one or more of the filter criteria defined in an asset filter that was used in deployments, then all related deployments are listed for that asset ID.
F36287
To enhance the modifications to orchestration deployments, you can now define overrides for asset applicability at the input level during deployment.
Note: This is not available for all runtimes.
F36279
To enhance the usability in the deployment creation and modification process, in the I/O Mapping step during deployment, you can now expand and collapse the ASSET(S) and Data Flow panes. Additionally, you can now:
  • Access tags and attributes at the asset level.
  • Map tags and attributes that are not common to all assets.
  • Access the list of steps and iterations as a tree view in the Data Flow pane.
  • F36275
  • F36274
To enhance the I/O Mapping step during deployment, you can now configure an Analytic Template to allow mapping inputs to aggregate tags or multiple assets. This also provides the ability to write back to tags defined at any asset hierarchy level.
Note: This feature is limited to the Spark runtime.
  • F36259
  • F18099
To enhance the asset applicability during deployment, you can now configure asset filters with Custom Attributes from non-asset entities.
Note: This enhancement is limited to AIR and SOAR runtimes only.
F33365
To enhance the retrieval of inputs and storage of outputs during deployments, you can now connect to the following data stores:
  • GE Digital APM Time Series
  • GE Digital APM Asset Attributes
  • Blob Store
F26075
To enhance the usability, you can now define data points for analytic inputs during analytic or orchestration deployment.F26069
To enhance the ability to configure the Analytic Template, you can now make constants optional in the Analytic Template definition.F17879
To enhance configuration in the Analytic Template, you can now define the unit of measure conversion for an analytic input or output. You can then pass that conversion formula to the respective runtime during deployment.F10674
To enhance the ability to assign and control Analytics access permissions, you can now define permission sets using multiple features and permissions instead of one large permission set.F2568
To enhance deployment modifications, you can now modify the version of the Analytic Template in deployment. If the Analytic Template has multiple versions of the analytic artifact uploaded to the catalog, the user can select which version to apply during deployment.US231988
To enhance usability in the Analytic Template creation process, you can now see a customized form with only relevant fields and boxes specific to the selected runtime. Other options not relevant to the runtime are hidden. US112770
Table 5. Resolved Issues
DescriptionTracking ID
Previously, when using the .csv file, the Format Value column did not appear and you could only define values for the Mapping Value Type field in the Analytics Templates page. This issue has been resolved. Now, you can use the .csv upload template to define values for the Data Format field as expected. DE78361
Previously, after tenant creation, the default asset filters and filter field data were unavailable for the new tenant that was set up in QA2 environment. This issue has been resolved.DE63501
Previously, an Analytic Template failed to deploy or run if the Sampling Interval for interpolated data was set to 0 minutes or 0 seconds even though the deployment was saved. This issue has been resolved. DE62748

Previously, for analytics that were deployed and executed in the Predix Analytic runtime, if you redeployed the analytics with a newer version of that Analytic Template that had been uploaded to the catalog, the deployment failed, the deployment status was set to Not Deployed, and the following error occurred: invalid service task name <task id>. This issue has been resolved. Now, if you redeploy a previously executed analytic with a newer version of the Analytic Template that had been uploaded to the catalog, the Deployment completes as expected.

DE62740
Table 6. Known Issues
DescriptionTracking ID
If a deployment uses more than 1000 assets but does not have all outputs explicitly mapped, then the error ConcurrentModificationException occurs and the deployment fails. If you notice this error, make sure to map all outputs before scheduling the deployment.DE97332
If you make modifications to an Analytic Template configuration after it has already been used in a deployment, the deployment status in the Deployments page is expected to display Updates Not Deployed. Sometimes, the status does not automatically refresh. If you notice this behavior, simply refresh the page for the status to display correctly.DE95790
Only on dedicated tenants, administrators cannot access the audit logs for Analytics using the Audit Log Management page. Administrators should contact support to access these logs via the backend. This is not an issue on shared tenants.DE94501
Sometimes, even though there are no current deployments associated with the version of the analytic templates that you want to delete, an error occurs indicating that you must first delete any associated deployments before you can delete the version of the analytic artifact in the template.DE77551

Limitations

  • Application Analytics does not support cross-tenancy; therefore, you will not be able to access assets from a different tenant.

Table 46. Resolved Issues
DescriptionTracking ID
Previously, when you collected data offline for all checkpoints on a Route and then closed the Route without marking the Route done, the progress bar in the Rounds Data Collection Overview page erroneously displayed a value less than 100%. Additionally, if you then marked the Route done, the Route History section in the workspace for the Route in the Rounds Designer module displayed a value that was one fewer than the actual number of readings taken. This issue has been resolved. DE90935
Previously, when you marked a Route done while offline and then went online, the Route disappeared from the device, as expected, and readings were uploaded to the server; however, if you went back offline before the sync interval was met, the device storage was not updated, and the Route appeared in the Due section despite not being due. This issue has been resolved. DE89050
Previously, on a small screen device, the percentage of the Route that was complete did not appear above the progress bar in the Rounds Data Collection Overview page when you were online. This issue has been resolved. DE88164
Previously, on a mobile device, after you cleared Route data from local storage, Routes stored on your device resynchronized with the server, but, once the data was cleared, there was no indication that Routes were still synchronizing. As a result, if you went offline while the Routes were still synchronizing, you were unable to access any Routes that were not finished synchronizing. This issue has been resolved. Now, while Routes are synchronizing with the server, a spinner appears next to the Route names in the Due Items or Overdue Items section of the Rounds Data Collection Overview page, indicating that synchronization is in progress.DE87172
