OUR SUSTAINABILITY APPROACH

Our ultimate responsibility in every business, at every site, is to make sure that anyone who works for GE Vernova or does work on our behalf goes home safely at the end of the day. Our expectations to maintain a safe, healthy work environment extends well beyond our own operations to all places where we work.

In 2021, we set an ambition to be net zero by 2050 for the Scope 3 emissions associated with the use of our sold products. Succeeding on this ambition inspires our efforts and Scope 3 Roadmap to innovate the technology needed to decarbonize the energy sector. We are collaborating closely with our customers, suppliers, policy makers, and other companies to turn net zero engineering challenges into business opportunities.

GE’s portfolio of energy businesses helped GE to meet its 2020 emissions reduction targets ahead of schedule, and we remain committed to achieving carbon neutrality within our own operations (Scope 1 and 2 emissions) by 2030. To achieve this goal, our businesses are investing in energy efficiency, reducing emissions from the grid and working to eliminate energy waste. Between 2019 and 2022 we reduced Scope 1 and 2 emissions from our operations by 28%¹. We will continue our effort to reduce emissions as much as possible before offsetting residual emissions.

By deeply embedding lean principles, we are creating a problem-solving culture, serving our customers better, and making progress in our sustainability goals. Our teams are able to problem solve at the point of impact, introduce standard work and integrate a more rigorous daily management cadence. All this work is helping us reduce our carbon footprint and be more efficient, all while delivering essential, life-enhancing products quickly and efficiently.

Our product stewardship efforts are integrated in our 4R circularity framework aiming to design products with their entire lifecycle in mind, focusing on sustainability, safety, and minimizing environmental impacts. This includes core elements such as design for environment (DfE), life cycle assessments (LCAs), resource efficient manufacturing, life extension services and responsible disposal.

We are committed to creating safe and effective products that help meet the needs of our customers. Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) – in that order – are the foundation of our lean operating philosophy. By deeply embedding lean principles and tools, we are creating a problem-solving culture and serving our customers better.

Our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) focus is rooted in the belief that diversity makes us more competitive and creates value for our customers, shareholders, and employees. By working together, we can foster an inclusive culture that ensures every employee feels accepted, respected, and belongs.

Our Ethics and Compliance program focuses on prevention, detection, and response. It begins with our leadership’s personal engagement in integrity. Our team of legal and functional experts helps us to stay ahead of significant compliance risks and a chancing regulatory landscape.
