GE Vernova completes turnkey substation contract to power the Rabigh-3 desalination plant in Saudi Arabia

GE Vernova’s Grid Solutions has completed a landmark turnkey contract for a substation to power Rabigh-3 saltwater desalination plant, one of the world’s largest sea water reverse osmosis (SWRO) plants that will supply drinking water to the Holy City of Makkah and Jeddah.

GE Vernova Completes One of Power Industry’s Largest Reactive Power Upgrades with 100% Reliability

  • GE Vernova has completed the largest Static Var Compensator (SVC) upgrade project for two of Norway transmission system operator Statnett’s substations
  • The trial run for both substations was executed without a single interruption of service, and the stations have continued their operation into commercial service
  • GE Vernova provides leading technological solutions to ever-evolving grid challenges, including the integration of more and more renewable energy, through successful implementation of its new “SmoothSine” modularized control software for SV

GE Vernova’s 245 kV 63 kA Dead Tank Circuit-Breaker Enhanced With Independent Pole Operation

GE Vernova’s 245 kV Dead Tank Circuit Breaker, model DT1-245P-63-F3, has been enhanced with optional independent pole operation (IPO) with a spring-spring-operated mechanism per phase. This option for single pole operation is on top of the existing three-pole gang operated offering.

This latest enhancement further increases the capabilities of this reliable high voltage dead-tank circuit-breaker performing at 245 kV and 63 kA without transient recovery voltage (TRV) capacitors for short line faults.

GE Vernova’s 1st-of-its-kind digital HYpact switchgear for electrical grids makes the unpredictable more predictable

  • The digital HYpact switchgear—GE Vernova’s hybrid compact switchgear assembly—is the first of its kind delivered to customer DB Energie GmbH under the EU-funded IN2STEMPO project
  • Technologies like this from GE Vernova’s Grid Solutions are helping the customer monitor their grid status, reduce downtime, and lower the carbon footprint at a decades-old German train station
  • GE Vernova’s HYpact module includes its proven circuit breaker technology, known for its reliability

Three Electrical Offshore Platforms Sailed Away in Three Months for GE Vernova Offshore Wind Customers

Good things come in threes at GE Vernova Renewable Energy’s Grid Solutions business!

Over the past three months, three offshore electrical platforms with GE Vernova’s Grid Solutions’ technology successfully sailed away from ports in France, Belgium and the Netherlands, to be installed at sea. GE Vernova’s Grid Solutions’ Alternating Current (AC) Systems division in charge of turnkey projects is leading the project management, design, system integration, installation and commissioning of those electrical high-voltage electrical systems.

Introducing the Next Generation in Controlled Switching Solutions

Point-on-wave switching is a technique used in operating AC system switchgear and circuit-breakers to mitigate power system transients and electrical stresses that commonly occur with the switching operation. If not properly managed, these transients can cause equipment damage or failure, power quality issues, or instability in the power system and connected networks.

GE Vernova wins deal to build turnkey substation for first clean energy desalination plant in Saudi Arabia

  • Yanbu-4 independent water producer plant is built by Saudi Water Partnership Company as part of consortium comprising ENGIE, Nesma and Mowah
  • Consortium of GE Vernova Renewable Energy’s Grid Solutions and Al Sharif Group will provide a 380-110 kV gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) substation for the plant, to be operational by 2023

GE Vernova’s Grid Solutions Eco-design team delivers 1st certified Product Environmental Profile (PEP) for GE Vernova Renewable Energy’s onshore wind turbine

As the global energy transition continues, customers and regulators increasingly require specific information about a product’s environmental footprint. GE Vernova’s Eco-design team addresses that need by offering a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) which includes manufacturing information about a product, like the impact of materials production and factory energy consumption and emissions; distribution, including packaging production and transportation; use, in terms of power consumption and maintenance; and end-of-life disposal. The PEP is the document provided once the LCA is done.
