About this task

You can modify the data entry plan (add/update/remove variables) in a work order only if the corresponding operations are ready or not started.

Procedure

  1. Access the work order whose plan you want to modify.
  2. In the upper-right corner of the page, select , and then select Edit the workorder.
The Edit <Work Order> page appears, displaying a list of operations in the work order.
  3. Select Variables.
The Variables grid appears, displaying a list of variables associated with the selected operation.
  4. To add variables to the route, click the icon. The Add Variables page appears. This page lists the existing Material Variables and Equipment Variables on separate tabs. Select the checkbox for each variable to be added.
  5. Click Add. This will add the selected variables into the operation.
  6. For each variable added, use the drop-down menu in the OPERATION NAME column to specify the operation into which the variable will be collected.
  7. Optionally, you can specify a group name for the variable using the drop-down menu in the GROUP TITLE column, or if the variable is mandatory, using the toggle slider in the MANDATORY column.
  8. Further organization of your variables can be performed by selecting one of the route's specific operations. Within the operation you can specify a group title in the Select group Name drop-down menu. You can also drag-and-drop your variables to sort them into whatever order you prefer.
The SPECIFICATION STRATEGY is a non-editable field that determines how variable specifications are retrieved. Each of the available strategies are described below:
    • Route Defined: This option uses route release date (referred to as Configuration Resolution Date) to determine specification values during work order execution.
    • Latest Specification: This option uses the current time to determine specification values during work order execution.
    • WIP Operation: This is the default option when variables are added to a data entry plan on a valid operation. Latest specifications are retrieved while the work order is in edit mode. Upon saving, the data entry plans become locked, and newly added variables will use the specifications from the last saved timestamp during work order execution.
