Consulting Services in Australia and Oceania

GE Vernova’s Consulting Services analyzed Australia’s existing supply/demand, generation mix, annual load/peak demand profiles, major generator owner’s market share and power market dynamics. It also:
 

• Reviewed future generation outlook and strategies against peak demand growth and changing energy policies.
  
• Captured the region’s future development plans on new renewable and nuclear energy additions to sustain system adequacy and compliance to emission norms.
  
• Assessed the existing region’s transmission grid and future expansion plans.

PNG is the Pacific’s largest country with one of the world’s lowest electricity access rates (13%). Naturally, the PNG government wants to raise that level. GE Vernova's Consulting Services is an integral part of that effort to elevate the nation’s access to electricity by 2030.
 

GE Vernova evaluated several off-grid distributed power technologies applicable to PNG, including solar, micro hydro, gas engines with integrated liquified natural gas (LNG) infrastructure, and Diesel engines. Micro grid solutions in village centers are another possible solution.

The Australia Gas Light Company (AGL) contracted with GE Vernova to construct 58 wind turbines in Australia’s remote Outback region. With an up to AU$3 billion investment and a target service base of 400K homes, it was important for AGL to determine whether the investment would yield positive returns, both financially and practically.
 

While opting to move ahead with construction of the wind farm, AGL worked closely with GE Vernova’s Consulting Services, using data-driven resources to analyze service potential and help make them better stewards of the grid.

On Luzon—the largest, most populous island in the Philippine archipelago—a utility was considering adding a combined- cycle power plant to generate higher levels of electricity. The utility wanted to know if the plant would be a powerful, yet economical addition to the grid.
 

The Consulting Services team developed a forecasting tool for the Luzon grid as well as a production simulation model in GE Vernova's Project Cost software (formerly MAPS). Using this model, GE Vernova produced a load forecast for the Luzon grid and a review of generation capacity additions.
