Over the past three months, three offshore electrical platforms with GE Vernova’s Grid Solutions’ technology successfully sailed away from ports in France, Belgium and the Netherlands, to be installed at sea. GE Vernova’s Grid Solutions’ Alternating Current (AC) Systems division in charge of turnkey projects is leading the project management, design, system integration, installation and commissioning of those electrical high-voltage electrical systems.

Introducing the Next Generation in Controlled Switching Solutions

Point-on-wave switching is a technique used in operating AC system switchgear and circuit-breakers to mitigate power system transients and electrical stresses that commonly occur with the switching operation. If not properly managed, these transients can cause equipment damage or failure, power quality issues, or instability in the power system and connected networks.

GE Vernova wins deal to build turnkey substation for first clean energy desalination plant in Saudi Arabia

  • Yanbu-4 independent water producer plant is built by Saudi Water Partnership Company as part of consortium comprising ENGIE, Nesma and Mowah
  • Consortium of GE Vernova Renewable Energy’s Grid Solutions and Al Sharif Group will provide a 380-110 kV gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) substation for the plant, to be operational by 2023

As the global energy transition continues, customers and regulators increasingly require specific information about a product’s environmental footprint. GE Vernova’s Eco-design team addresses that need by offering a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) which includes manufacturing information about a product, like the impact of materials production and factory energy consumption and emissions; distribution, including packaging production and transportation; use, in terms of power consumption and maintenance; and end-of-life disposal. The PEP is the document provided once the LCA is done.

GE Vernova’s g3 technology accelerates Denmark’s decarbonization efforts

  • GE Vernova has been awarded a contract from Energinet for two F35g 145 kV SF₆-free g3 gas-insulated substations (GIS)
  • g3 substations will be installed at the Amagerværket (AMV) and Vigerslev Koblingsstation (VIK) substations, both in Copenhagen
  • Upon completion, AMV will have 22 bays making it the largest gas-insulated substation installation using GE Vernova’s g3 gas at the 145 kV level worldwide

In 2014, GE Vernova announced its game-changing g³ insulating and switching gas in replacement of SF₆ for its high voltage equipment. Just three years later, Axpo, the largest producer of renewable energy and a distribution grid operator in Switzerland, energized the first F35g 145 kV g³ gas-insulated substation (GIS) at its Etzel substation near Zürich.
