Maximizing System Stability with WAMPAC

GE Vernova

As renewables integration increases for electric power grid, transmission utilities are constantly challenged by intermittent generation patterns. The on-and-off nature of renewable generation makes it very difficult to ensure a reliable, secure, and balanced power flow.

In this context, the synchrophasor measurements used in Wide Area Monitoring, Protection and Control (WAMPAC) technology empowers utilities to quickly identify and respond to changes and stresses in the power system. WAMPAC is particularly valuable for complex grid situations where sudden events like disturbances lead to unanticipated power disruptions.

This 60-minute webinar takes a deep dive into the benefits of WAMPAC and how utilities can get started using this immensely valuable technology to increase system stability. It will focus on real-life examples from South Australia and Iceland, in which WAMPAC was used to stave off any significant impacts from separation and islanding situations.
