GE Vernova is proud to announce that the company has become the first manufacturer of high voltage (HV) gas-insulated substations (GIS) for SF₆-free technology at voltages greater than 54 kV to successfully complete assessment by the Energy Networks Association (ENA). This marks a huge step forward for the power industry towards its ambitions to reduce emissions and achieve its net zero goal.

GE Vernova Renewable Energy’s Grid Solutions business has just energized Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) Transmission’s first g³ gas-insulated New Deer substation. This represents the world’s largest installation to date of g³ gas, GE Vernova’s alternative to SF₆.

Thanks to their high transmission capacities and reliability, gas-insulated lines and busbars (GIL and GIB, respectively), have been in use for over half a century in power plants and in high voltage substations.

GE Vernova Renewable Energy’s Onshore Wind team and GE Vernova’s Grid Solutions Services team have joined forces to digitize the maintenance of the balance of plant (BoP) systems at eight onshore wind farms in Pakistan’s Jhimpir region.

The shift from time-based maintenance to condition-based maintenance uses GE Vernova’s Asset Performance Management (APM) grid solution to drive OPEX and CAPEX optimization and enhance the wind farms’ reliability and availability.
