In today’s fast-paced world of innovation and transformation, staying ahead means more than just delivering high-quality, world-class technology and energy systems. It means investing in the people behind them.
When a company’s people grow, the business grows too. That’s why learning, development, and personal growth are important to GE Vernova. Its technical academies take employees on a learning journey through bespoke training programs that feature technical experts, classroom training, and hands-on opportunities.
“Technical academies provide tutoring between some of our most experienced workforce and the newest members of our teams. As we continue to ramp up our businesses across the world, supporting the growth of our people is a critical part of what we do — not only in terms of head count but for our overall performance.”

Real People, Real Progress
Through its technical academies, GE Vernova is creating pathways for employees at all levels to reach their full potential. This commitment is not only shaping careers within the business but is helping to promote a learning culture that can inspire the next generation of talent across the industry.
Take Nikhil Sharma, who started as a lead systems studies engineer and, through his experience in the technical academies, was able to deepen his expertise, learn alongside others, and move into a more senior engineering role. He is now managing a team to deliver EMT (electromagnetic transient) and RMS (root mean square) studies for customer projects.
“When I was offered the chance to participate, I immediately grabbed it,” Sharma says. “I’m fortunate to have been on two GE Vernova learning journeys during my time at the company. The blend of theoretical sessions, site visits, and on-the-job training assignments provided a unique and very helpful experience. It almost forces you to go outside of your comfort bubble and you end up working with people you wouldn’t necessarily gravitate toward — which I came to see was a good thing, because it helped me to understand the bigger picture.”
Another academy alum is Preetika Dogra, who works as a SAFe (scaled agile framework) coach for the business and recently participated in her own learning journey. “The Analytic Engineering Program has provided a strong foundation to grow my career in today’s AI-driven world,” Dogra says. “The combination of hands-on exercises and guidance from experienced mentors made the learning experience both practical and impactful. Programs like those offered by the technical academies not only build technical depth but also help to foster a culture of continuous learning.”
Then there’s Nicolas Manduley, who was a technical academy trainee before becoming a trainer at GE Vernova.
“After attending a technical academy myself, I was asked if I would be interested in being one of the trainers,” Manduley recalls. “I already loved presenting and speaking in public, so I was excited to have the opportunity to put my PhD experience and research expertise to use producing high-quality training materials for the technical academy. It is great to be able to help others develop in an area I’m so passionate about.”
Manduley adds: “Becoming a trainer has supported me to continue learning too. I’ve been able to explore my ideas through technical discussions with our chief consulting engineers, and it’s allowed me to confidently expand my remit and skills. Being part of our technical academy helps me to remain focused and motivated to fulfill my role within the business.”
More Than a Career: A Culture of Continuous Development
GE Vernova’s technical academies cover everything from electrical design and grid integration to digital system analytics, cybersecurity, power solutions, software design, and sustainability leadership, among others. Trainees can choose self-learning via an internal online platform, peer-to-peer learning (both virtual and in person), or “train the trainer” sessions.
The company is creating opportunities for its people to thrive, and this doesn’t stop at internal development. It is also inspiring the next generation through Next Engineers, a global career readiness program for young people aged 13 to 18 who are interested in becoming engineers. The program provides students with firsthand experiences in engineering concepts and careers, and ultimately awards scholarships to pursue degree programs or apprenticeships in engineering.
“Being part of the Next Engineers program gave me a solid technical foundation and cemented the direction I wanted to take my career,” says Thomas Bennett, who joined GE Vernova as an apprentice. “This took things to a whole new level. From day one, I was involved in real projects, learning from senior engineers, and contributing to solutions that actually make a difference. It’s exciting to be part of a company that’s not just talking about the energy transition but is actively part of it.”
GE Vernova’s award-winning teams are solving complex global problems and delivering cutting-edge electrification technology that is transforming how industries, cities, and communities generate, transmit, and distribute the energy needed to power the world.
