Customize Y-Axis Display Settings
The trend chart includes a set of properties that enable customization of the Y-axis (vertical axis) display, affecting how data is visually interpreted.
Refer to Chart Y Axis Configuration setting.
- Select Individual Y Axis for each source when you want
each data source to have its own separate Y-axis on the trend chart. This is
particularly useful when the data from different sources varies significantly in
scale or units, allowing each to be displayed clearly without overlapping or
distortion.
Example: When multiple tags have different ranges or units, each tag will have its own Y-axis, making it easier to compare trends within the context of each data set.
- Select Single Y Axis for all sources when you want all
data sources to share a common Y-axis. This approach works best when the data
sources are comparable in scale and units, ensuring a unified visual
representation.
Example: When multiple tags have similar ranges or measurements, they can all be plotted against the same Y-axis, providing a clear, consolidated view of the trends across all sources.
Field Name | Description |
---|---|
Y-AXIS LABEL | Enter a name or description for the Y-axis for each tag to clearly indicate what the data represents on the trend chart |
Y-AXIS POSITION | By default, the Y-axis position for each tag is automatically arranged
alternately (left, right, left, right). You can manually set the Y-axis
position for each tag to either LEFT or
RIGHT on the trend chart. Watch demo: |
COLOR | Choose the color of the line representing the data on the trend chart to help distinguish between different tags or data sources. |
LINE WEIGHT | Adjust the thickness of the line on the trend chart, making it more prominent or less noticeable based on your preference. |
LINE STYLE | Select the pattern of the line (solid, dashed, dotted, etc.) to visually differentiate it from other lines on the chart. |
SHOW Y-AXIS | This toggle appears for each tag/source if you choose the
Individual Y Axis for each source option. Select the toggle to switch between showing or hiding the Y-axis for that particular data source. |
AUTOFETCH LIMITS | This toggle controls whether the chart automatically fetches the minimum
(Low) and maximum (High) limits for the Y-axis based on the data
source. When ON: The system automatically determines the range for the Y-axis by looking at the selected Source. When OFF: The automatic fetching is disabled, and the system enables you to manually set the limits for the Y-axis. |
SOURCE | Turn on AUTOFETCH LIMITS to browse and select the source tags from which the system will automatically fetch the Y-axis limits. |
AXIS LOW, AXIS HIGH |
Turn off AUTOFETCH LIMITS and manually set the
lower and upper limits for the Y-axis. Enter a numerical value to define the
minimum and maximum value that the Y-axis should display. If you do not enter High and Low limits when the toggle is off, the values are auto scaled. |
