GE Vernova Introduces GridOS® for Transmission and New AI Whitepapers at Orchestrate 2026

6 min read
  • GE Vernova has introduced GridOS for Transmission: a unified software solution that enables near real-time, coordinated transmission operations

  • At industry-leading Orchestrate Conference, GE Vernova releases two new AI whitepapers exploring grid planning and grid-edge autonomy

ATLANTA, GA., June 9, 2026 – GE Vernova (NYSE: GEV) today introduces GridOS for Transmission and released two new AI whitepapers addressing grid planning and autonomous grid-edge operations at Orchestrate 2026, the company's annual grid software conference bringing together utility leaders, grid operators, and technology experts to examine how software is reshaping grid modernization as electricity demand surges and grid complexity accelerates.

"Meeting rising electricity demand will require more than adding generation, it demands a grid that can coordinate, adapt, and act faster than ever before," said Philippe Piron, CEO of GE Vernova's Electrification segment. "Software is now central to how utilities plan investments, operate networks, and respond to near real-time conditions. What we're introducing at Orchestrate reflects our conviction that the grid of the future runs on intelligence and that utilities need that intelligence across every layer, from long-range planning to the grid edge."

Orchestrate 2026: Bringing the Industry Together to Drive Grid Modernization

Orchestrate is GE Vernova's annual conference for utility leaders and grid operators to engage with the software strategies and technologies redefining grid modernization. This year's agenda reflects the mounting pressures utilities face: surging load, deeper renewable integration, and frequent extreme weather and the growing role software plays in helping them respond.

Today's announcements reinforce GE Vernova's position that software is no longer a layer on top of the grid – it is a core enabler of faster, more coordinated decisions across planning and operations, and the only mechanism capable of addressing a coordination problem that is beyond human scale.

GridOS for Transmission

GE Vernova's Grid Software business today introduces GridOS for Transmission, a unified grid intelligence solution for operating and orchestrating the transmission network as one system. By bringing together near real-time operations, capacity awareness, forecasting, and system stability into a single coordinated environment, GridOS for Transmission helps utilities shorten control room decision cycles, improve utilization of existing transmission capacity, and respond faster to rapidly changing grid conditions.

The solution integrates intelligence from core transmission applications including AEMS (Advanced Energy Management System), DDLR (Digital Dynamic Line Rating), WAMS (Wide-Area Monitoring System), and forecasting tools, alongside DER management, Visual Intelligence, and asset behavior data, giving operators a unified, context-rich decision environment.

With this operating model, utilities can reduce decision latency, operate closer to actual system limits, identify emerging stability risks earlier, and respond more effectively during disturbances and peak-stress events.

New AI Whitepapers on Grid Planning and Grid-Edge Operations

GE Vernova today released two whitepapers addressing complementary dimensions of AI's role in utility operations. Both whitepapers are coming from GE Vernova's Grid Automation and Software business.

"Reimagining the Grid Edge: Autonomous Distribution Technologies as the Key to Managing Decentralization and Enhancing Resilience," outlines how Autonomous Distribution (AD) enables utilities to detect, isolate, and restore faults in seconds rather than minutes. The paper covers AI capabilities at the grid edge including adaptive zone management, predictive controls, software-defined architecture, and integration with existing EMS and ADMS environments. By empowering grid operators to manage distributed assets, AD improves grid resilience, adjusts to evolving demands, reduces costs, and increases efficiency, paving the way for a fault-tolerant future in a decentralized energy landscape.

"AI in Grid Planning: Unlock Resilience, Faster Decisions, and Lower Costs,"  outlines how utilities can apply AI to long-range planning, interconnection analysis, forecasting, and risk management, all anchored by a living, digital grid twin. Use cases include interconnection backlog reduction, non-wires alternatives analysis, vegetation- and wildfire-risk management, storm preparedness, and advanced load and generation forecasting.

Together, the whitepapers underscore GE Vernova's view that utilities need intelligence across the full grid lifecycle, from planning investments years ahead to managing near real-time operations from the control room to the grid edge.

Reimaging the Grid Edge  and AI in Grid Planning whitepapers are available for download.

GE Vernova's HA gas turbine fleet surpasses 4 million operating hours as global power demand accelerates

5 min read
  • Fleet reaches 128 units operating in 21 countries

  • Recent project wins underscore the fleet’s growing role in energy security, affordability and grid reliability

  • Continued investment in manufacturing and services supports future HA growth

ATLANTA, GA - (May 26, 2026) - GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE: GEV) today announced that its HA gas turbine fleet has surpassed 4 million commercial operating hours worldwide, marking an important milestone for one of the power industry’s most advanced and efficient gas turbine technologies.

Since the first HA unit entered commercial operation in 2016, the fleet has grown to 128 units operating across 21 countries and has generated approximately 74 gigawatts (GW) of power plant capacity, the equivalent electricity needed to power more than 55 million U.S. homes. Today, GE Vernova’s HA gas turbine is the world’s fastest-growing fleet in its class.

The milestone also highlights the growing performance of GE Vernova's HA services, as each new turbine commissioned today is typically accompanied by a long-term maintenance and performance contract that grows GE Vernova's high-margin services backlog for decades to come.

“Surpassing 4 million commercial operating hours is a strong validation of the HA fleet’s performance, reliability and relevance in today’s energy landscape,” said Eric Gray, CEO, GE Vernova’s Power Segment. “This milestone reflects the confidence our customers have placed in GE Vernova’s HA technology and its established role in supporting flexible power generation around the world.  As electricity demand rises and energy security is seen as national security, customers are increasingly focused on solutions that can deliver reliable, efficient, and more flexible power. Our HA fleet is helping meet that need today while continuing to evolve to support lower-emission power systems over time.”

Growing Global Demand for HA Technology

GE Vernova’s HA gas turbines were developed in the context of a fundamental shift in the global power sector, involving the replacement of aging coal-fired generation with more efficient, lower-emission, and flexible power while enabling greater renewable energy integration. That role is becoming increasingly important as electrification, industrial expansion, and rising demand from data centers and AI drive sustained pressure on power systems worldwide.

In this environment, GE Vernova is seeing continued demand for gas power technologies as customers prioritize solutions that can be deployed at scale, operate efficiently and support grid reliability. As the installed HA fleet continues to expand, GE Vernova also sees growing services opportunities as customers seek to maintain performance, availability and operating flexibility across the lifecycle of these assets.

As power needs continue to expand, GE Vernova is investing across its Gas Power manufacturing and services footprint—including in Greenville and Schenectady—to strengthen the capabilities needed for the future. GE Vernova’s nearly $300 million in planned investments in the Gas Power business underscores our commitment to helping customers deliver reliable, efficient, and more flexible generation at scale. This investment is part of a $700 million invested in meeting unprecedented customer demand across the company.

Recent milestones further illustrate the fleet’s global momentum.

In the U.S., the HA has seen record success. One example is with Duke Energy securing  20 advanced HA gas turbines, several of which are included in a framework agreement executed in 2025. Several other traditional U.S. utilities have also entered into significant, multiunit HA agreements. Beyond traditional customers, a new, non-utility customer archetype is emerging from data centers. This includes hyperscalers and other project developers which represent approximately 20 percent of total gas turbines contracts

In Türkiye, GE Vernova and Enka Power announced the start of commercial operation at ENKA’s 850-megawatt (MW) Kırklareli power plant in Kırklareli, Türkiye. The facility marks the first HA-powered plant in the country, bringing GE Vernova’s total installed gas power capacity in Türkiye to 13.5 GW.

In the UK, GE Vernova is supplying a 9HA.02 gas turbine for the NZT Power project, expected to be the world’s first commercial-scale gas-fired power station equipped with carbon capture technology. Construction has started, and the gas turbine is expected to be shipped from GE Vernova’s Manufacturing Center in Belfort, France, in June.

6 min read
  • Project supports Türkiye’s energy transition with high-efficiency, flexible generation technology

  • Plant features GE Vernova’s 9HA.02 gas turbine, marking the first H-class gas turbine installed in Türkiye

  • ENKA Kırklareli Natural Gas Combined Cycle Power Plant is expected to benefit from GE Vernova’s long-term maintenance services

Kırklareli, Türkiye - (May 12, 2026) ENKA and GE Vernova Inc (NYSE: GEV) today announced the start of commercial operations at the 852 megawatts (MW) Kırklareli power plant in Kırklareli, about 20 miles from the Bulgarian border in Türkiye. The facility is the first HA-powered plant in the country and represents a significant milestone in the modernization of Türkiye’s power generation fleet.

Under the terms of a multi-year agreement, GE Vernova is also expected to provide long-term maintenance services to improve asset visibility, reliability, and availability. The milestone was celebrated in the presence of senior government officials, including H.E. Alparslan Bayraktar, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Türkiye, and representatives from ENKA and GE Vernova.

“With the successful commissioning of the Kirklareli power plant, ENKA has achieved a significant milestone, strengthening its position as both investor, EPC contractor, and operator of one of Türkiye's most efficient combined cycle facilities," said Mr. Mehmet Tara, Chairman of the Board and President of ENKA. “By delivering flexible, high-efficiency power to the national grid, this project reflects ENKA's nearly 70 years of engineering heritage, the depth of our in-house capabilities — from design to commissioning — and our long-term commitment to supporting Türkiye’s growing electricity needs with efficient, reliable, and flexible generation.”

The commercial operation of the Kırklareli plant comes as Türkiye continues to modernize its power system to meet rising electricity demand through a more efficient, resilient, and diversified generation mix. According to the IEA outlook, natural gas power generation in Türkiye has expanded significantly over the past two decades and today represents a key part of the country’s energy mix, supplying more than a quarter of its electricity.

For the Kırklareli Power Plant, GE Vernova supplied its combined-cycle power generation equipment, including a 9HA.02 gas turbine with H78 generator, an STF-D650 steam turbine, and a triple-pressure Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG). All engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning works were executed by ENKA's in-house teams, with approximately 8 million person-hours of effort over a 36-month execution period. The Kırklareli facility is expected to be among the most efficient combined-cycle gas power plants in the country, reaching above 63% net efficiency in combined-cycle mode.

“As Türkiye prepares to host COP31, this project highlights the important role that advanced, high-efficiency power generation technologies can play in strengthening energy security, while enhancing grid reliability,” said Joseph Anis, President & CEO for GE Vernova’s Gas Power business in Europe, Middle East & Africa. “Kırklareli's entry into commercial operation marks an important step in our collaboration with ENKA and in bringing GE Vernova’s HA technology to Türkiye for the first time. We are proud to support the country’s energy transition with technology that can help power growth, strengthen infrastructure, and contribute to long-term economic development.”

GE Vernova has supported Türkiye’s energy infrastructure for more than 75 years. Today, the company has an installed base of approximately 33.5 gigawatts (GW) across gas power, wind, hydro, and solar technologies, as well as grid modernization initiatives, and manufacturing and R&D capabilities through its Gebze Transformer Factory. With this project, GE Vernova’s total installed gas power capacity in Türkiye has reached approximately 13.5 GW.
