GE Vernova Foundation Announces Bold, Future-Focused Engineers of Change to Inspire Next Generation Innovators and Leaders

7 min read
  • $4.5 million commitment will help bring hands-on engineering experiences to more than 6,000 students in Greenville, South Carolina, and Staffordshire, UK over three years

  • Program aims to ignite curiosity, expand access to engineering pathways, and help build the future workforce needed for a more reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy future

Cambridge, Mass (April 22, 2026) – The GE Vernova Foundation today announced Engineers of Change, a dynamic new initiative designed to inspire the next generation of engineers and energy leaders through early exposure to engineering, hands-on learning, and direct connections with industry professionals. In partnership with global nonprofit organization FHI360, and backed by a $4.5 million commitment, the initiative aims to reach more than 6,000 students in Greenville, South Carolina, and Staffordshire, UK, over the next three years, helping build stronger pathways into engineering education, training, and careers.

Engineers of Change is built around two complementary programs:

  • Engineering Spark engages students ages 13–14 in discovering engineering through dynamic, hands-on learning sessions led by GE Vernova engineers and volunteers, helping spark curiosity and expand understanding of what engineering is all about.
  • Engineering Catalyst is an immersive, two-year program for students ages 15–18, featuring real-world design challenges, college and career readiness workshops, and engagement with GE Vernova engineers, designed to equip students with the skills and confidence to think like engineers, build a strong engineering identity, and pursue post-secondary studies or apprenticeships.

“Meeting the world’s growing energy needs will require not only breakthrough technology, but people – bold thinkers, problem-solvers, and next generation leaders ready to shape the future,” said Kristin Carvell, President, GE Vernova Foundation and Chief Communications Officer, GE Vernova. “Through Engineers of Change, we are helping young people see engineering not just as a career path, but as a mission with real-world impact. By bringing engineering to life in engaging, community-connected ways, we hope to ignite curiosity today and help build the workforce of tomorrow.”

By making engineering tangible and inspiring, the initiative helps students connect their interests and skills to future opportunities in engineering and energy. Students completing the program will be awarded a partial scholarship for post-secondary engineering education and training.

“We’re thrilled to work with GE Vernova Foundation and with our partners in Greenville, SC, and Staffordshire, UK, to inspire the next generation of engineers,” said Steven Ehrenberg, Director of Programs at FHI 360. “I’m excited that students in Greenville and Staffordshire will have hands-on engineering experiences and the opportunity to meet and learn from professional engineers."

Engineers of Change reflects the Foundation’s commitment to strengthening the future energy workforce by inspiring more young people to pursue engineering, particularly in communities where GE Vernova operates. With an estimated 30 million new energy jobs needed in the next five years, Engineers of Change is designed to foster innovation, strengthen problem-solving skills, and expand pathways into engineering and energy careers. By aligning programming with local needs and long-term workforce development priorities, the GE Vernova Foundation is putting its purpose — The Energy to Change the World — into practice while helping develop the next generation of innovators and leaders needed to advance a more reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy future. GE Vernova Foundation Invests in Energy Industry Skills Grant to Advance Critical Workforce Needs in Poland

8 min read
  • $800,000 USD investment in three-year skilling program focused on the energy sector

  • Working with Assist International and Wroclaw University of Science and Technology on new curricula and new training lab

Wroclaw, Poland (April 21, 2026) – As part of continued efforts to educate and train the next generation of global energy leaders, the GE Vernova Foundation today announced a grant of $800,000 USD to Assist International who will partner with Wroclaw University of Science and Technology to create a new technical training program in Wroclaw, Poland focused on building skills capacity in distributed energy systems and grid integration.

The three-year grant will support the creation of a training lab equipped with modern technology, alongside the development of a three-tiered, skills-based curriculum spanning introductory, intermediate, and advanced levels. The program will deliver hands-on technical training for vocational and technical students, undergraduate engineering students, and technicians, while offering scholarships to reduce financial barriers and expand access to training and economic opportunity for low-income learners. It will also help inspire the future workforce by engaging local middle and high school students through hands-on experiences in the lab, sparking curiosity and interest in energy-related careers. The three-year program anticipates reaching 800 students and learners.

“The GE Vernova Foundation is proud to support the next generation of energy leaders in Poland,” said Kristin Carvell, GE Vernova Foundation President and Chief Communications Officer, GE Vernova. “This workforce and skills development program focuses on practical training and educational opportunities that will help drive the future of energy in Europe and beyond.”

Poland is focused on building the workforce needed to transition its energy systems and modernize infrastructure to meet net-zero goals, with demand increasing for technicians and engineers with hand-on experience in renewable energy, grid integration, and modern power systems.

“Assist International is proud to partner with the GE Vernova Foundation and Wroclaw University of Science and Technology to expand hands-on training for Poland’s energy workforce. This initiative will equip learners with practical skills that open doors to opportunity and support the country’s transition to a more sustainable energy future,” said Cheri Reynolds, Vice President, Strategy & Programs, Assist International.

Notes to editors

*Decarbonization as used in this article is intended to mean the reduction of carbon emissions on a kilogram per megawatt hour basis.

Ammonia is utilized today in industrial applications such as the production of fertilizer.  When used as a carrier for hydrogen, ammonia enables a more efficient and lower-cost pathway for transport and storage. In addition, ammonia is expected to be utilized directly in power generation as a carbon-free fuel, since ammonia contains no carbon, it does not emit carbon dioxide when burned and may therefore enhance the power sector’s efforts in reducing carbon emissions. (Note:  any air-based combustion, even if operating on a carbon free fuel, will emit a trace amount of carbon dioxide based on the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere.)

GE Vernova Foundation, ASSIST Asia and Electric Power University open learning labs to train next generation energy workforce

8 min read

HANOI, Vietnam (11 March, 2026) – Today in Hanoi the GE Vernova Foundation and partners ASSIST Asia and Electric Power University (EPU) cut the ribbon at the new Centers of Excellence on Wind Energy at EPU. The new center is funded by the GE Vernova Foundation’s RENEW Skills Development grant program, which over the past year has developed new, industry-aligned courses and outfitted five learning labs across the country, officially beginning the education and training of learners for high-demand technical careers.

Five learning labs, including two Centers of Excellence, have been established with educational partners and equipped with modern renewable energy technologies training equipment which will serve as hubs for course development, teacher capacity building and student training. The program anticipates reaching over 4,000 students and technical workers by 2027.

“The world needs energy, and to meet that demand we must accelerate the training and development of the next generation of energy leaders,” said Kristin Carvell, President, GE Vernova Foundation and Chief Communications Officer, GE Vernova. “With today’s ribbon cutting, we are doing just that here in Vietnam and advancing our broader goal of training 30,000 students and learners globally by 2030.”

“The establishment of the Center of Excellence on Wind Energy reflects our commitment to delivering industry-aligned, practice-oriented education,” said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Đinh Văn Châu, President of Electric Power University. “Through this partnership with GE Vernova Foundation and ASSIST, we are strengthening our capacity to equip students with the skills needed to support Vietnam’s energy transition.

At ASSIST, our mission is to drive social improvement and sustainable transformation through capacity development,” said Aru David, Regional Director of ASSIST Asia. “Through RENEW Skills, we are partnering with universities and colleges to empower students and technical workers with practical competencies in renewable energy, strengthening resilience and supporting Vietnam’s transition toward a more sustainable and inclusive energy future.”

“Skilled workforce development is a core focus of the GE Vernova Foundation, and this lab at EPU brings that commitment to life in Vietnam. Technical skills are the foundation of a strong energy workforce — and through RENEW Skills, we aim to create well-paying career opportunities for economically disadvantaged communities, while building the talent Vietnam needs for its energy transition," said Ramesh Singaram, Board Director, GE Vernova Foundation and President & CEO, Gas Power Asia, GE Vernova.

The RENEW Skills Development Program was launched with a $750,000 grant by the GE Vernova Foundation in November 2024, and is administered locally by ASSIST Asia. The program focuses on both the current workforce and the future generations of university and technical vocational college students, by providing access to new curricula and practical training focused on wind energy project design, operations and maintenance, grid integration, and workplace safety.

As Vietnam works to meet its 2050 Net Zero commitment, skilled workers and technicians will play a vital role in building a sustainable energy future. And because of that, and in alignment with the Just Energy Transition Partnership agreement announced in 2022, it is important to invest in new training and educational programs and drive awareness of these critical careers as Vietnam implements its Resource Mobilization Plan.

GE Vernova has a long history and strong presence in Vietnam, and just yesterday hosted an exclusive ‘Energy of Change’ Summit in Hanoi. The Summit convened over 400 distinguished senior representatives from government, national utilities, suppliers, and industry partners from across the energy ecosystem of Vietnam and Asia to advance Vietnam’s energy transition as it moves from planning into large-scale implementation under the Revised Power Development Plan VIII (PDP8R).

GE Vernova has over 1,100 employees in Vietnam who work closely with our customers locally and globally to support the country’s economy. With a robust footprint comprised of manufacturing facilities, repair and service centers, nearly 30% of Vietnam’s electricity needs are met through GE Vernova’s equipment and installed solutions today.

GE Vernova expands manufacturing capacity in Vietnam to support growing global electrification needs

6 min read
  • New Hai Phong facility to manufacture large power transformers primarily for HVDC transmission projects

  • Investment strengthens manufacturing footprint to support fast-growing regional and international demand

  • Project expected to create approximately 450 jobs and support workforce development in Vietnam

Hai Phong, Vietnam | March 10, 2026 – GE Vernova (NYSE: GEV) today announced an investment of approximately $200 million to expand manufacturing capacity within its Electrification segment by establishing a new facility in Hai Phong, Vietnam. GE Vernova’s Electrification segment provides technologies that support power transmission, grid stability, and large-scale electrification programs worldwide.

This investment forms part of GE Vernova’s planned investments of $11 billion in capex and R&D from 2025 through 2028, including $1 billion for Prolec GE from 2026 to 2028. It follows GE Vernova completing the $5.3 billion acquisition of Prolec GE to increase transformer production in the North American market, more than $300 million in investments in grid facilities in the United States, and the expansion of its Stafford, UK site to strengthen HVDC and grid manufacturing capabilities in Europe.

The new facility will manufacture large power transformers mainly for High-Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) projects, complementing GE Vernova’s existing HVDC transformer manufacturing facilities in Stafford, UK, and India. These technologies are used to move electricity efficiently over long distances and ensure power networks can safely and reliably handle rising electricity demand.

“Electrification is accelerating globally, and reliable power infrastructure is increasingly essential to support economic growth and energy security,” said Philippe Piron, CEO of GE Vernova’s Electrification segment. “This investment expands our manufacturing capacity in a region experiencing strong demand growth while reinforcing a diversified supply chain that supports customers across Asia and other regions as needed.
