GE Vernova Foundation Celebrates Official Launch of ‘Engineers of Change’ Program in Greenville

7 min read
  • Event marks the start of a three-year initiative to inspire the next generation of energy leaders in the Upstate

GREENVILLE, S.C. – November 2, 2026 – The GE Vernova Foundation today celebrated the official launch of Engineers of Change in Greenville, with the first students beginning programming this fall. The launch event brought together GE Vernova leadership, local government officials, Clemson University partners, and community leaders to highlight the program’s role in creating a pipeline for future innovators who will build a more sustainable energy future.

First announced in April 2026, Engineers of Change is a three-year, $4.5 million initiative in two locations – Greenville, South Carolina and Staffordshire, UK. In Greenville alone, the program aims to reach 3,000 students. By bringing engineering to life through hands-on learning, real-world design challenges, and direct mentorship from industry professionals, the program aims to ignite curiosity and confidence in students ages 13–18.

“Meeting the world’s growing energy needs will require not only breakthrough technology, but people — bold thinkers, problem-solvers, and next-generation leaders,” said Kristin Carvell, President, GE Vernova Foundation and Chief Communications Officer, GE Vernova. “Our goal with Engineers of Change is to teach young people in Greenville more about this exciting career path and the purpose and impact that comes along with it and inspire them to pursue a career in engineering.”

The launch event at the Advanced Manufacturing Works (AMW) facility featured a panel discussion with industry experts and educators, as well as live engineering demonstrations.

The program focuses on two core components:

  • Engineering Spark: Introduces students ages 13–14 to foundational engineering concepts through dynamic, hands-on learning.
  • Engineering Catalyst: An immersive, two-year program for students ages 15–18 featuring design challenges and career readiness workshops designed to equip students with the skills to pursue engineering.

“The GE Vernova Foundation has been a dedicated partner in expanding opportunity and connecting education to the workforce needs of our communities,” said Ben Ayers, President of Clemson University. “Engineers of Change puts that partnership into action by giving young people in the Upstate hands-on experiences, mentorship and a clear view of the opportunities available to them in engineering and energy. We are grateful for the GE Vernova Foundation’s continued investment and, as the program’s first university partner in the United States, proud that Clemson is helping prepare the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers.”

Engineers of Change is delivered in collaboration with Clemson University’s PEER program and the global nonprofit FHI 360, ensuring that programming is aligned with local workforce needs. Through this collaboration, the GE Vernova Foundation continues to put its purpose, The Energy to Change the World, into practice.

“We are proud to see Engineers of Change take root here in Greenville,” said Mayor Knox White. “This partnership creates a unique pathway for our students, providing them with the practical skills and encouragement to pursue engineering as a mission-driven career that can change the world.”

GE Vernova and the GE Vernova Foundation continue to invest heavily in the future of Greenville, driving impact through both education and community-building. Since 2021, the company and the Foundation have together granted nearly 300 scholarships—including the John Lammas Annual Scholarship for engineering students and GE Vernova STAR Scholarships supporting employees' children—while also funding skilled trades and technical programs, such as granting $100,000 for Future of Energy Skills scholarships in Greenville.

Additionally, the 2026 opening of the GE Vernova Park in Greenville marked a major milestone in creating vibrant, connected communities. Serving as the home pitch for Greenville Triumph SC and Greenville Liberty SC, the venue welcomed over 45,000 fans in its inaugural season while doubling as a year-round hub for soccer clinics, yoga, and World Cup watch parties. Through shared volunteer efforts like Hands On Greenville Day and programs like the Triumph's "Read to Score" initiative—which rewarded 2,703 students for literacy—GE Vernova is proud to invest in the social, physical, and educational well-being of the Upstate region.

GE Vernova to acquire Trench Group

13 min read
  • A high-growth, accretive acquisition of a global leader in complementary high-voltage grid equipment that increases scale and geographic reach

  • Vertically integrates an existing supplier and increases capacity for key grid equipment

  • Trench Group expects $1.9B in revenue at approximately 36% adjusted EBITDA margin* in 2028

  • $9.0B USD equivalent purchase price, currently expected to be funded equally with cash and debt, reflects 13x 2028 adjusted EBITDA* before synergies; close expected in late 2027

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., (October 28, 2026) – GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE: GEV) today announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire Trench Group (“Trench”), a global leader in high-voltage grid equipment, from investment firm Triton Partners. The deal will create scale across GE Vernova’s Electrification product lines, expanding its capabilities to better serve customers with integrated solutions that meet unprecedented demand for grid modernization, energy security, and electrification technologies. By vertically integrating an existing supplier with a complementary product portfolio, the acquisition will directly enhance GE Vernova’s two largest Electrification businesses, Grid Systems Integration and Power Transmission, and help deliver the technologies and manufacturing capacity needed for the global electricity supercycle.

Trench has over 130 years of engineering heritage and serves more than 800 global utilities and hyperscalers with high- and medium-voltage bushings, instrument transformers, and coils. With more than 3,000 employees, its manufacturing footprint spans 11 sites across Europe, North America, and Asia, and will further enable GE Vernova to serve fast-growing demand for grid equipment. Potential acquisition synergies stem from complementary products, geographic footprint, customer relationships, and advanced manufacturing capabilities using automation, robotics, and AI-supported processes.

"Trench's differentiated high-voltage grid technology, strong execution, and deep customer relationships are key enablers of the modernized, resilient grid required to keep pace with the electricity supercycle," said GE Vernova CEO Scott Strazik. "With a margin-accretive financial profile and approximately $5 billion in backlog and framework agreements, some of which reach into the next decade, this acquisition will deliver both immediate earnings visibility and long-term strategic value. We are investing in our Electrification segment to meet the extraordinary growth opportunity in front of us, and our acquisition of Trench will further strengthen our ability to serve global customers with outstanding technology we know well. I look forward to welcoming the Trench team to GE Vernova."

"Trench Group has spent more than 130 years earning the trust of the world's leading utilities and grid operators. Joining GE Vernova will be a defining opportunity to build on that legacy with even greater capabilities and reach,” said Trench Group President and CEO Dr. Bahadir Basdere. “GE Vernova's global scale, customer relationships, and footprint in key growth regions will offer more market participants access to the high-voltage components that the energy transition demands. Our team is excited about the development and growth opportunities that the combination with GE Vernova is expected to create. I look forward to what our teams can achieve together – and to serving all existing and future customers with the technology, quality, and reliability Trench stands for."

Trench components are present in the majority of high-voltage direct current lines built globally and are part of larger grid systems with many suppliers. Its high-quality products with sustainable and innovative technology are at the forefront of increasingly stringent global environmental standards. For example, across its portfolio, it has SF6-free and mineral oil-free technologies that reduce hazardous materials and lifecycle emissions – capabilities that GE Vernova‘s customers are increasingly seeking. These offerings enable more efficient, higher voltage electrical grids, increasing affordability for consumers.

As global electricity grids confront surging demand from aging infrastructure, data centers, renewable energy, and industrial electrification, higher voltage transmission lines are increasingly becoming the backbone of the system, carrying up to six times more power per corridor than conventional lines. With this acquisition, GE Vernova will enhance its capabilities in manufacturing grid components for North America, through a newly opened Trench facility in Charlotte, North Carolina, with manufacturing of 765kv equipment expected to begin in late 2027.

Under the purchase agreement, GE Vernova will pay $9.0 billion USD equivalent at closing, currently expected to be funded equally between cash and debt. The acquisition is expected to close in late 2027, subject to the completion of customary regulatory approvals together with consultation with employee representatives where legally required.

GE Vernova will discuss the transaction during an extended third quarter earnings conference call today at 7:30 AM Eastern Time. Materials related to the transaction have been posted on GE Vernova’s Investor Relations website at www.gevernova.com/investors/events.

Non-GAAP Financial Measures

Trench Group Adjusted EBITDA* and Adjusted EBITDA margin*
Trench Group’s Adjusted EBITDA* and Adjusted EBITDA margin* are non-GAAP financial measures and are forecasts of Trench Group as a standalone business prepared by GE Vernova based on data provided by Trench Group and prepared under its accounting policies and exclude any expected synergies, integration costs, and purchase price accounting adjustments determined through due diligence. We believe that Trench Group’s Adjusted EBITDA* and Adjusted EBITDA margin*, which are adjusted to exclude the effects of unique and/or noncash items that are not closely associated with ongoing operations, provide management and investors with meaningful measures of performance that increase the period-to-period comparability by highlighting the results from ongoing operations and the underlying profitability factors. We believe Trench Group’s Adjusted EBITDA* and Adjusted EBITDA margin* provide additional insight into how the business is expected to perform, on a normalized basis. However, Trench Group’s Adjusted EBITDA* and Adjusted EBITDA margin* should not be construed as inferring that Trench Group’s future results will be unaffected by the items for which the measures adjust.  We cannot provide a reconciliation of the differences between Trench Group’s expected Adjusted EBITDA* and Adjusted EBITDA margin* and the corresponding GAAP financial measures without unreasonable effort due to the uncertainty and inherent difficulty of predicting the occurrence and financial impact of certain items, including the applicable tax rate, foreign exchange rates, the impacts of depreciation and amortization, and changes to conform accounting to U.S. GAAP.

Trench Group free cash flow*
Trench Group’s free cash flow* is a non-GAAP financial measure and is a forecast of Trench Group as a standalone business prepared by GE Vernova based on data provided by Trench Group and prepared under its accounting policies and exclude any expected synergies, integration costs, and purchase price accounting adjustments determined through due diligence. We cannot provide a reconciliation of the differences between Trench Group’s free cash flow* and the corresponding GAAP financial measure without unreasonable effort, including due to the uncertainty of timing for capital expenditures, foreign exchange rates, and changes to conform accounting to U.S. GAAP.

GE Vernova and the Boston Celtics Announce Three-Year Partnership to Recognize Members of the United States Armed Forces

5 min read
  • The global energy leader will acknowledge and connect the nation's best military talent with the future of electricity

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (October 27, 2026) – GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE: GEV) and the Boston Celtics ignited a three-year partnership designed to recognize members of the United States Armed Forces at TD Garden during the team’s 20th Annual Seats for Soldiers Night. In addition to the partnership, GE Vernova marked the occasion by hosting a series of events at the Celtics 100 Causeway Street Headquarters.

A full day of career events held Monday brought together more than 165 veterans and student veterans with GE Vernova's hiring teams, senior leaders, and veteran employees. This event represented the largest veteran recruiting activation in the energy company's history and focused on pairing the tenacity of service members with the world's most consequential energy infrastructure projects, strengthening veteran integration in the private sector.

GE Vernova’s Military Career Summit opened with a keynote from Chief People Officer Steven Baert on why veterans are essential to GE Vernova's mission, followed by a "Mission Continuity" panel — a conversation with GE Vernova veteran leaders on how the discipline, adaptability, and leadership forged in military service translates directly into some of the most consequential careers in the global energy transition. The afternoon career fair connected candidates with hiring teams across GE Vernova’s Nuclear, Supply Chain, Cyber, Operations, Project Management, and Field Services teams.

Adding to the day’s events, GE Vernova welcomed approximately 65 student veterans from MIT and Northeastern University to the Sky Lobby at Celtics Headquarters for an exclusive Student Veteran Networking Social, featuring remarks from GE Vernova CEO Scott Strazik. The evening concluded with the entire group heading to TD Garden together for tip off.

"The Boston Celtics have spent twenty years honoring those who serve through their Annual Seats for Soldiers Night, and our company has spent decades building a career trajectory for those same individuals," said Scott Strazik, CEO of GE Vernova. "This three-year partnership with the Celtics will help GE Vernova create awareness for meaningful career opportunities that exist. We are not just hiring veterans, we are investing in the leadership required to power the world," said Scott Strazik, President and CEO of GE Vernova.

Building the Future, Powered by Veterans

With veterans already accounting for 10 percent of GE Vernova's U.S. workforce and a 96 percent first-year retention rate, we have proven that military talent is a critical engine of our growth. This three-year partnership is a commitment to scale that success, turning our mission into a magnet for the next generation of veteran leaders. We are actively expanding our teams across Nuclear, Supply Chain, Cyber, Operations, Project Management, and Field Services. Veterans interested in joining our mission can learn more at careers.gevernova.com.

“For 20 years, Seats for Soldiers has given us the opportunity to recognize the men and women who serve our country and bring them together for a special night at TD Garden,” said Rich Gotham, Boston Celtics Team President. “Our season ticket members have played an important role in making this tradition possible, and with the support of GE Vernova, we’re continuing to find meaningful ways to connect with and recognize our military community.”

Seats for Soldiers Night is now in its 20th year at TD Garden. Since its inception, Celtics season ticket members and the organization have donated more than 23,000 tickets to active-duty service members and veterans and last night alone, over 1,200 tickets were given to service members.

GE Vernova Foundation Marks Milestone as First Staffordshire Students Begin ‘Engineers of Change’ Programme

6 min read
  • Event marks the start of a three-year initiative to inspire the next generation of energy leaders in the UK

STAFFORDSHIRE, UK – October 22, 2026 – The GE Vernova Foundation today celebrated the official launch of Engineers of Change in Staffordshire, with the first students beginning programming this week. The launch event brought together GE Vernova leadership, local officials, and community partners to highlight the programme’s role in creating a pipeline for future innovators who will build a more sustainable energy future.

First announced in April 2026, Engineers of Change is a three-year, $4.5 million initiative in two locations – Staffordshire, UK, and Greenville, South Carolina, U.S. In Staffordshire alone, the programme aims to reach 3,000 students. By bringing engineering to life through hands-on learning, real-world design challenges, and direct mentorship from industry professionals, the programme aims to ignite curiosity and confidence in students ages 13–18.

“Meeting the world’s growing energy needs will require not only breakthrough technology, but people — bold thinkers, problem-solvers, and next-generation leaders,” said Kristin Carvell, President, GE Vernova Foundation and Chief Communications Officer, GE Vernova. “Our goal with Engineers of Change is to teach young people in Staffordshire more about this exciting career path and the purpose and impact that comes along with it and inspire them to pursue a career in engineering.”

The programme delivers two core experiences:

  • Engineering Spark: Introduces students ages 13–14 to engineering through dynamic, hands-on learning led by GE Vernova volunteers.
  • Engineering Catalyst: An immersive, two-year programme for students ages 15–18 featuring design challenges and career readiness workshops designed to equip students with the skills to pursue engineering. Students who complete the programme and enrol in an eligible engineering degree or apprenticeship will receive a partial scholarship from the GE Vernova Foundation.

“Nothing shapes a career like early, hands-on exposure to real-world work,” said Martin McCluskey, Minister for Local Energy and Jobs. “Through its Engineers of Change programme, the GE Vernova Foundation will help young people access the hundreds of thousands of clean energy jobs being created across the country.”

With more than 130 years of history in the UK, GE Vernova operates three electrification manufacturing sites in Staffordshire, including the country’s only large-scale grid manufacturing facility. GE Vernova is making significant investments in the area to expand capacity and reinforce Staffordshire’s role as a critical hub for the production of electrification technologies.

Engineers of Change is delivered in collaboration with the Staffordshire-based The Inspirational Learning Group and the global nonprofit FHI 360, ensuring that programming is aligned with local workforce needs. Through this collaboration, the GE Vernova Foundation continues to put its purpose, The Energy to Change the World, into practice.

“We’re delighted to work with the GE Vernova Foundation to inspire the next generation of engineers in Staffordshire,” said Ben Dyer, Co-Founder, The Inspirational Learning Group. “This programme gives young people a fantastic opportunity to experience engineering first-hand, learn directly from industry professionals and develop the skills and confidence to explore future careers in the energy sector.”

GE Vernova secures order aimed to strengthen regional energy capacity in Côte d’Ivoire

6 min read
  • Developed by Songon Energies S.A., Songon power plant is built to strengthen energy security and support future growing electricity demand in Greater Abidjan

  • GE Vernova 9E turbine technology to support reliable power delivery for industrial growth and millions of households

  • Infrastructure development expected to create up to 1,400 new jobs and drive positive community impact

ABIDJAN, Côte d’Ivoire (October 20, 2026) - GE Vernova announced today that it will provide the gas power technology for the new Songon combined-cycle power plant, located in the Songon region near Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. Following the signing of financing agreements last June, Songon Energies - Ivorian development investment company focused on advancing energy infrastructure – selected GE Vernova to supply a 9E gas turbine and generator. The plant – to be built by the EPC contractor China Energy International Engineering Co., Ltd. - is expected to deliver 372 megawatts (MW), a capacity equal to the power needs of approximately 5 million Ivorian homes.

Supporting a growing national energy landscape. Côte d’Ivoire has made significant progress, reaching an electrification rate of 94.3 percent by 2024 through initiatives like the “Electricity for All Program” (PEPT), in line with the national goal to achieve universal electrification and improved power quality by 2030. Despite these gains, the nation faces an annual demand growth rate of 10 to 15 percent and rural areas still require expanded access. In this energy landscape, this new power plant will help fill a critical gap. The facility is projected to represent up to 12 percent of the country’s total installed base upon its scheduled 2029 operational launch, playing a vital role in meeting these ambitious development targets. Furthermore, the project is expected to generate up to 1,400 new jobs, creating economic opportunities for the local community.

"The Songon Energies project is designed to strengthen energy security and support future growing electricity demand growth in the Greater Abidjan region while reinforcing the country's position as a regional energy hub in West Africa," said Mr. Wang Xiaoming, Deputy General Manager (Acting CEO) for Songon Energies. “The facility is expected to ease energy pressure on the Abidjan metropolitan area, providing a reliable foundation for the development of skilled workers, the growth of industrial zones, the expansion of small and medium-sized enterprises, and a tangible improvement in the daily lives of millions of Ivorian households. We selected to work with GE Vernova for this new power plant, because of our deep trust in their efficient technology and their constant, proven presence in Côte d'Ivoire, which gives us great confidence in the long-term success of this facility."

“We are honored to support Songon Energies with our proven 9E technology for this crucial infrastructure project," said Joseph Anis, CEO of Gas Power in Europe, Middle East, and Africa at GE Vernova. "Our commitment to power plant operators is rooted in delivering advanced gas power technology that provides the reliable, dispatchable energy necessary for long-term growth and positive community impact. Beyond the turbine island, we look forward to applying our expertise in powering the HV sub-station, providing digital software, and long-term services to support the broader energy system in its goal to enhance grid stability, operational efficiency, and local prosperity."

GE Vernova’s commitment to Côte d'Ivoire remains steadfast, built upon a long history of supporting the nation’s electrification goals. The company’s footprint in the country centers on a large installed base, key power transmission hardware, digital software deployments, and long-term service contracts. GE Vernova utilizes its global expertise and local presence to help power plant operators increase power capacity, while supporting a more secure and reliable energy future.

GE Vernova to Double the Number of MIT Interns and Permanent Hires in 2027

5 min read
  • Will build on robust 2026 effort to recruit and develop the next generation of energy innovators

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – October 6, 2026 – GE Vernova (NYSE: GEV) today announced its goal to double the number of MIT interns and permanent hires it brings on board in 2027, a meaningful expansion of its Alliance with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) that underscores GE Vernova’s commitment to building the workforce of the future. The announcement was made at the MIT x GE Vernova Alliance Fall Fair, held today at Hockfield Court on the MIT campus.

“Among the students on campuses today are the engineers, innovators and future leaders who will define the next era of energy, and our job is to give more of them the opportunity to join us, grow with us, and change the world,” said Scott Strazik, CEO of GE Vernova. "MIT is one of our most important partners in that effort, and what we're building together isn't incremental – we are doubling down. We are working together to identify the very best talent and enable them to make a real impact."

The event today brings together MIT students, faculty, and GE Vernova leaders and engineers to showcase the company's research collaborations, career opportunities, and technology innovation. This year's event features 12 Alliance Year Two research poster presentations, live technology demonstrations including robotics, large voltage monitoring detection, and frontal polymerization research, and a recruiting zone staffed to support interest in 2027 internship opportunities.

GE Vernova and MIT are in the second year of their Energy and Climate Alliance, a $50 million, five-year commitment spanning breakthrough research across the entire energy ecosystem: from generating electrons to moving them around the world efficiently. Beyond research, the Alliance is designed to develop the energy sector's future workforce through fellowships, internships, and a dedicated career exploration program connecting MIT students and faculty with opportunities across GE Vernova's global teams. In 2026 the company welcomed 80 MIT interns and permanent hires.

"The energy transition will require a generation of talent that is deeply technical, globally minded, and ready to solve problems at scale," said Steven Baert, Chief People Officer of GE Vernova. "Doubling our MIT intern and hiring numbers in a single year isn't something we're doing lightly, it's a signal of how seriously we take investing in talent early, and our commitment to building career pathways that give the best and brightest a place to do the most meaningful work of their careers."

GE Vernova recruits from a wide range of universities and engineering programs across the United States and globally as part of its broader talent and workforce development strategy.

Today's announcement reflects an urgent workforce reality outlined in GE Vernova's inaugural NextGen Workforce Study: the U.S. energy sector could need more than two million workers by 2032. To meet the massive growth in electricity demand driven by AI, data centers, and the industrial electrification surge, the study finds the industry will need one in every ten engineering graduates to join the power sector. GE Vernova's expanded MIT commitment is part of a broader effort to make those pathways visible and accessible earlier.
