Assigning Variables
About this task
Procedure
- In the Route Editor page, select the route for which you want to assign variables. The Edit Route page appears.
- Select Variables.
-
To add variables to the route, click the
icon. The Add Variables page appears. This page lists the existing Material Variables and Equipment Variables on separate tabs. Select the checkbox for each variable to be added.
- Click Add. This will add the selected variables into the route.
- For each variable added, use the drop-down menu in the OPERATION NAME column to specify the operation into which the variable will be collected.
- Optionally, you can specify a group name for the variable using the drop-down menu in the GROUP TITLE column, or if the variable is mandatory, using the toggle slider in the MANDATORY column.
-
Further organization of your variables can be performed by selecting one of the
route's specific operations. Within the operation you can specify a group title in
the Select group Name drop-down menu. You can also
drag-and-drop your variables to sort them into whatever order you prefer.
You can select from the following options in the SPECIFICATION STRATEGY column for a variable:
- Route Defined: Select this option to use the route
release date (referred to as Configuration Resolution Date) to determine
specification values during work order execution.
By default, the specification strategy for the variables is set to Route Defined.
- Latest Specification: Select this option to use the current time to determine specification values during work order execution.
Note:The variables configured with the Latest Specification strategy will always retrieve the latest specification values defined on the material, regardless of the route status. - Route Defined: Select this option to use the route
release date (referred to as Configuration Resolution Date) to determine
specification values during work order execution.
