Frequently asked questions

You have questions—we have answers

Consistency is driven by the GVH PWR Reactor Maintenance Standard and our knowledge transfer and retention (KT&R) program. We capture training videos and best practices from across the global fleet to ensure that lessons learned at one site improve performance at every other site.

Yes. We offer year-round operational support, including spent fuel pool cleanup, Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI) operations, and maintenance of fuel handling equipment. We also aid utilities with outage scheduling and procedure writing, helping to ensure they're well-prepared before the outage window even begins. This continuity allows us to maintain deep site knowledge and helps ensure seamless transitions between outage cycles.

GVH's legacy spans nearly 60 years, with licenses for 67 reactors across 10 countries. We're recognized for a track record of quality and excellence, and we're committed to sustaining it.

Most reactors operating in the world today are either boiling water reactors or pressurized water reactors. While both reactors heat water to produce steam, in a BWR the steam created in the reactor pressure vessel (RPV) goes directly to the steam turbine generator (STG). In a PWR, heat is transferred into a separate water loop within the steam generator, which in turn boils the water for steam generation.
