CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (21 juillet 2025) - GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE: GEV) et Alteia SAS ont annoncé aujourd'hui que GE Vernova a conclu un accord pour acquérir Alteia SAS. Alteia est une entreprise de logiciels basée en France, experte en modélisation par ordinateur et en apprentissage automatique, dont la mission est d’intégrer l'intelligence visuelle dans les opérations. L'acquisition d'Alteia vise à renforcer la stratégie de GE Vernova: développer ses capacités en Intelligence Artificielle (IA) et offrir aux gestionnaires de réseau des solutions utilisant les données visuelles. Celles-ci fourniront une intelligence situationnelle et des informations à haute valeur facilement exploitables, essentielles à la décision.

La plateforme logicielle GridOS® de GE Vernova, au sein de son activité de logiciels d'électrification, aide les gestionnaires de réseau à planifier et à opérer proactivement le réseau électrique. Elle est cruciale lors d'événements perturbateurs comme les tempêtes ou les incendies de forêt qui menacent la fiabilité de l’alimentation électrique. Actuellement, GE Vernova propose déjà le logiciel d'Alteia via GridOS® Visual Intelligence. Cette solution utilise des données visuelles et des workflows basés sur l'IA pour permettre aux gestionnaires de réseau de "visualiser" le réseau. Ils peuvent ainsi évaluer les dommages, identifier précisément les zones où la végétation doit être élaguée et inspecter les éléments clés sur des milliers de kilomètres de lignes électriques.

Grâce à cette acquisition, GridOS Visual Intelligence approfondira l’intégration des données visuelles avec les données opérationnelles issues des systèmes de gestion de réseau (tels que les logiciels de gestion avancée de la distribution). Cette synergie permettra de passer à l'action sur ces données, aidant les gestionnaires de réseau à véritablement "voir et ressentir" leur infrastructure, et offrant une conscience situationnelle accrue.

GE Vernova to acquire Alteia, advancing AI-enabled GridOS® Visual Intelligence software

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (July 21, 2025) - GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE: GEV) and Alteia SAS today announced that GE Vernova has agreed to acquire Alteia SAS. Alteia is a France-based software company specializing in AI computer vision and machine learning, to bring visual intelligence into operations. The acquisition of Alteia is intended to further GE Vernova’s strategy to bolster AI capabilities and give utilities visual data solutions that provide situational intelligence and actionable insights.

GE Vernova’s GridOS® portfolio, within the Electrification Software business, helps utilities proactively plan for and operate the electric grid through disruptive events such as storms and wildfires that can impact the availability of reliable power to customers. GE Vernova currently offers Alteia’s software to customers through its GridOS® Visual Intelligence, which uses visual data and AI-enabled workflows to help utilities “see” the grid and assess damage, identify where vegetation should be trimmed, and inspect key assets along thousands of miles of electrical lines.

Through this acquisition, GridOS Visual Intelligence will further integrate visual data and operational data from core systems, like Advanced Distribution Management Software, to take action on the data and help utilities "see and sense" the grid, providing an enhanced level of situational awareness. Continued advancements of the AI-workflows will build on the insights delivered to help utilities reduce the probability of catastrophic events and enhance resiliency with expedited damage assessments to rebuild and restore the grid.

The financial terms of the acquisition are not being disclosed. The transaction is expected to close on August 1, 2025.

GE Vernova-Larsen & Toubro consortium to build advanced National System Control Center (NSCC) for KETRACO in Kenya

NAIROBI, Kenya (June 11, 2025) – GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE:GEV) today announced that the GE Vernova-Larsen & Toubro (L&T) consortium will build an advanced National System Control Center (NSCC) for Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) to monitor and manage Kenya’s national electricity grid. The work will include constructing a Main Control Centre building in Embakasi, equipped with advanced grid software solutions and the latest substation automation, monitoring, and communication equipment. Additionally, an Emergency Control Centre building in Suswa will be constructed, featuring the same systems and an Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system for transmission operations. GE Vernova booked the order in the first quarter of 2025.

Kenya's Electricity Goals
Kenya has set ambitious electricity goals aimed at achieving universal access and transitioning to a sustainable energy future. The country aims to ensure that 100% of its population has access to reliable and affordable electricity by 2030. To achieve this, Kenya is investing heavily in expanding its electricity grid and enhancing generation capacity. Additionally, Kenya is focusing on enhancing energy efficiency and developing smart grid technologies to optimize electricity transmission, distribution and consumption.

“A new, advanced NSCC is essential for managing increased electricity demand as Kenya's economy grows. When commissioned, the new NSCC system would play a critical role in supporting our mandate as System Operator(SO). It will ensure reliable, secure, and efficient electricity transmission across the country. It is a game-changer for Kenya’s electricity transmission capabilities, significantly improving our ability to manage the grid, enhance the quality of power, and integrate renewable energy sources,” said Dr. Eng. John Mativo, MBS, Managing Director and CEO at KETRACO.

Consortium Roles and Responsibilities
GE Vernova, through its French entity Grid Solutions SAS, will lead the consortium and provide advanced grid technology from its Electrification Software and Grid Automation portfolio. This technology includes two solutions from its GridOS® orchestration software portfolio—Advanced Energy Management Systems (AEMS) and Wide Area Management Systems (WAMS)—Enterprise Asset Management Systems (EAM), and several solutions from its grid automation portfolio - GridBeats™ - Asset Performance Management System (APM), Condition Monitoring devices, Substation Automation Systems, and Telecommunication Systems. Larsen & Toubro will handle all civil works, including the construction of two fully equipped greenfield control center buildings, equipment installation, and support for system configuration, testing, and commissioning. The project is expected to be completed within three years.

Financial and Development Support
The project is made possible through a financing partnership with the French Development Agency (AFD) and the French Treasury, which are providing vital support to KETRACO for the development of a stronger and more sustainable electricity grid in Kenya. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to advancing Kenya’s energy goals by enabling more reliable and efficient power infrastructure.

“France is committed to supporting sustainable infrastructure projects in Kenya, notably in the Power sector, as part of the broader ongoing collaboration between Kenya and France on energy transition and climate. A modern NSCC will make the Kenyan grid more resilient and reliable, enabling the integration of more variable renewable energy and ultimately providing more reliable and affordable power to Kenya’s businesses and households. The project is fully financed by France with two separate and complementary financing from AFD and the French Treasury, supported by a related grand from the European Union dedicated to Capacity building,” said H.E Arnaud Suquet, the French Ambassador to Kenya.

GE Vernova’s Financial Services business played an integral role in the procurement process, advising the consortium and securing concessional financing from the French Treasury to supplement AFD’s funding. This seamless partnership showcases the importance of combining technical expertise with innovative financing to deliver impactful, future-ready energy solutions.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (November 20, 2024) - GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE: GEV) today announced that One Grid Operation AS has purchased its GridOS® orchestration software to help deliver more secure, reliable, and sustainable electricity to customers. One Grid Operation is owned by two of Norway’s distribution system operators, Tensio AS and Linea AS.

GridOS is the first software portfolio designed specifically for grid orchestration. It’s comprised of a platform and suite of applications enabling secure, reliable grid orchestration while also delivering the resiliency and flexibility utilities need to modernize and transform to a sustainable energy grid. By selecting GridOS, One Grid Operation will have a modern solution with several key components:

  • built-in Zero Trust security model to help protect resources from inside and outside threats.
  • The first grid-specific data fabric enabling operators to integrate traditionally siloed data across operational technology (OT), information technology (IT), and external sources (e.g. weather). This provides the foundation for utilities to use artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) to automate grid operations, which is likely to prove crucial to adopting renewables at scale. GridOS Data Fabric builds on GE Vernova’s acquisition of Greenbird Integration Technology AS in 2023.
  • Composable, intelligent grid applications. One Grid Operation plans to implement GE Vernova’s Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) for secure management of the distribution grid and Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS) for managing a broad array of distributed energy resources (DERs), such as wind power, battery storage, electric vehicles, and more.

One Grid Operation plans to implement GE Vernova’s GridOS orchestration software over the next three years. The company has chosen to utilize a hybrid cloud strategy, with ADMS deployed on-premise and the other GridOS applications running in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud. This strategy helps to enable One Grid Operation to meet energy demands with greater speed and agility by unlocking data, increasing visibility, and accelerating decision-making. Once the implementation is complete, the company will deliver grid control room services to owners Tensio and Linea. “This is a big and important milestone for us,” said Anna Nysetvold, CEO of One Grid Operation. “I look forward to embarking on this journey with Tensio and Linea’s skilled teams and in close collaboration with GE Vernova.”

Tensio and Linea formed One Grid Operation to achieve the highest standard of excellence when it comes to supplying electricity in Norway. Tensio is the country’s third largest power grid company and operates the regional and distribution network in the central county of Trøndelag. Linea is responsible for delivering power to over 46,700 customers in Helgeland in Northern Norway.

Demand for electricity is at an all-time high, extreme weather events are becoming more common, and renewable but intermittent energy sources are on the rise. CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (November 7, 2024) -- GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE: GEV) today announced it has signed an expanded multi-year Strategic Collaboration Agreement (SCA) with Amazon Web Services (AWS) that includes its Asset Performance Management (APM) and CERius™ software delivered in the AWS Cloud. The SCA is designed to make it easier for energy companies to adopt software that has the potential to reshape how they manage their asset and emissions data as they address the energy transition.

“As the energy landscape continues to dynamically transform, the power of flexible cloud-based software is increasingly important,” said Scott Reese, CEO of GE Vernova’s Electrification Software business. “The expansion of our strategic agreement with AWS represents our commitment to providing digital solutions that can help energy organizations increase reliability, lower costs, and make measurable progress on energy transition goals.” GE Vernova previously announced SCAs with AWS to benefit electric utilities, manufacturers, and other industrial companies.

GE Vernova customers are already experiencing benefits of the expanded SCA with AWS. One example is global energy company AES. “GE Vernova’s APM as a software as a service (SaaS) solution has been very important for AES. GE Vernova Provides GridOS® Orchestration Software to Help West African Power Pool (WAPP) Facilitate Energy Exchange Among Its Member States

LAGOS, Nigeria, October 24, 2024 – GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE: GEV) today announced that its GridOS® orchestration software is deployed in the newly completed Information and Coordination Centre (ICC) in Abomey-Calavi, Benin for the West African Power Pool (WAPP), a groundbreaking initiative aimed at transforming the region’s energy landscape. The recently inaugurated ICC will serve as the centralized command centre for the mainland member countries of the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS), overseeing the interconnected power grids of 14 nations, namely Benin, Burkina-Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Togo. This milestone marks a significant step towards establishing a unified power market across the region, paving the way for a more reliable, sustainable, and affordable energy infrastructure for West Africa.

According to the International Energy Agency (IEA) Africa Energy Outlook 2022 report¹, Africa's GDP is expected to grow by an average of 4.6% per year between 2022 and 2040. This economic growth is expected to drive up energy demand by 2.8% per year, with electricity consumption expected to double by 2040. By expanding power capacity, enhancing forecasting capabilities, and ensuring a seamless balance between generation and demand across borders, the West Africa Power Pool powered by the ICC is bridging the gap between energy needs and reliable supply.

The ICC is a state-of-the art facility equipped with the latest electric grid management technologies. Elements of GE Vernova’s GridOS software portfolio are deployed in the facility to enable more secure, reliable grid orchestration. The software is designed to help utilities achieve the resiliency and flexibility needed for a more sustainable energy grid. The ICC is using several of the portfolio’s intelligent grid applications, including:

  • Energy Management System (EMS) engineered for dispatching
  • Wide Area Monitoring System (WAMS) designed for grid stability
  • Advanced Market Management System designed to support the trading of power among ECOWAS countries

The ICC technology platform has also been upgraded with GE Vernova’s GridOS forecasting solution to enhance the value of Variable Renewable Energy (VRE) on the electricity market with advanced forecasting and ramping tools. Through this integration, engineers will have near real-time access to data on energy flow across the WAPP interconnected network, enabling them to monitor, analyze, and optimize the distribution of power.

(May 2, 2024)GE Vernova (NYSE: GEV)—a global leader in electrification, decarbonization, and energy solutions—today announced the launch of Autonomous Inspection, a cloud-based computer vision software solution designed to automate the manual inspection and monitoring of industrial assets by utilizing image capture devices and artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) algorithms. This new software integrates with select applications within GE Vernova’s Asset Performance Management (APM), a suite of software and services designed to help asset performance and operations and maintenance (O&M) efficiency across equipment, plant, and an entire fleet. Designed to be industry-agnostic, Autonomous Inspection can help users in energy generation and other industries access and act on visual data and insights within APM applications to improve asset and operational outcomes.

Despite significant digital progress witnessed by the energy industry, traditional manual asset inspection processes often continue to slow momentum and pose challenges. They are often resource intensive, prone to safety risks and errors, and difficult to scale. Furthermore, they are fast becoming unsustainable due to the rapidly changing energy landscape with decentralization of assets due to renewables sources, workforce availability challenges, and tougher generation requirements.

Autonomous Inspection is designed to support and contribute to the digital transformation of the energy industry in multiple ways, including:

  • Accelerating operational excellence: By removing bottlenecks like manual-intensive and siloed inspection workflows through automation, a major oil and gas firm was able to reduce inspection review time for corrosion images from two weeks to 30 minutes using Autonomous Inspection during a pilot.[1]
  • Helping with safety and compliance: Workers need to perform inspections at elevated heights or near heated equipment that pose serious risks to personal safety. With Autonomous Inspection, cameras and AI/ML models can be used to reduce such safety risks. The technology can also lessen the need for inspection-specific travel, as gathered inspection data and insights can be accessed remotely over the cloud. A major European utility is using Autonomous Inspection to monitor critical electrical equipment like transformers and switchyards and facilitate their transition to a remote-enabled, safer, and more efficient asset inspection model.
  • Helping performance goals while transforming: It’s crucial for energy firms to meet their profitability goals while adapting to energy transition needs. According to John Villali, Senior Research Director for IDC Energy Insights, IDC, “Over 20% savings on O&M cost could be realized from leveraging autonomous visual asset inspections.” Autonomous Inspection automates the manual-intensive workflows to help workers save time and effort. It is designed to enable workers to detect defects faster and sends them alerts to enable earlier actions for improving asset uptime.

Additionally, Autonomous Inspection can be useful when it comes to inspecting geographically dispersed assets like solar and wind farms, where a manual inspection approach isn’t effective.

Designed as an industry-agnostic solution, Autonomous Inspection can serve applications in industries beyond energy generation. The cloud-based, AI-powered software has the capability to automate inspection and monitoring workflows, including automated image data collection, processing, integration, analysis, and management. It’s available for a range of use cases, including automated gauge reading, corrosion detection and severity classification, and thermal profiling of equipment. GE Vernova announces strategic initiatives with the Republic of Iraq to further strengthen the power sector

  • Five-year services and upgrade agreements with the MoE to enhance the availability of up to 7.5 GW of capacity across the country

  • Memorandum of understanding with the Iraqi Ministry of Oil to accelerate the use of flared gas to boost power generation 

  • New Monitoring and Diagnostics Centre to be built focusing on GE Vernova’s electrification software capabilities, which will also support Iraqi talent development through the specialized training of local engineers

Washington, D.C., United States of America; April 18, 2024: GE Vernova (NYSE: GEV) has announced multiple strategic initiatives with the Republic of Iraq aiming to boost generation and enhance the availability of power supply across the country. The announcements were made on the sidelines of the Iraqi Prime Minister H.E. Mohammed Shia’a Al-Sudani’s visit to Washington, D.C. and meeting with President Joe Biden.

The initiatives were signed, in the presence of H.E. Al-Sudani on April 17th in Washington D.C, by H.E. Hayan Abdul Ghani Al-Swad, the Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil; H.E. Dr. Muhammad Ali Tamim, the Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning; and Roger Martella, Chief Sustainability Officer and Head of Government Affairs at GE Vernova. The signings were attended by Ambassador Alina L. Romanowski, the U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Iraq and Mr. Steve Lutes, the President of the US-Iraqi Business Council, and Vice President, Middle East Affairs at U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

The collaborations reflect the joint vision of the Government of the Republic of Iraq and GE Vernova to work together in order to strengthen and modernize power infrastructure, enable the transition to a lower carbon energy future, and promote economic development. The initiatives announced align with the Principles of Cooperation signed between Iraq’s Ministry of Electricity (MoE) and GE Vernova in 2023 to explore opportunities to increase power capacity and establish new power plants. They include:

  • A letter of intent signed with the MoE to explore injecting 3 additional gigawatts (GW) of energy into the grid generated by highly efficient combined cycle power plants. Additionally, the MoE and GE Vernova reiterated their commitment to move forward with the conversion of two sites, Samawa and Nasiriya, from simple to combined cycle, as well as to expand capacity at the Al Mansouria gas power plant.
  • Five-year services and upgrade agreements with the MoE to enhance the availability and efficiency of over 70 turbines and generators at 18 power plants, with a total capacity of up to 7.5 GW.
  • A memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed with Iraq’s Ministry of Oil to explore the accelerated use of flared gas to boost power generation in select oil fields. Iraq is ranked among the top gas flaring countries globally, and this MoU paves the way to future joint projects aiming to significantly reduce pollution and health hazards associated with flaring, while generating additional power.

These initiatives mark a milestone in our continued efforts to strengthen national power infrastructure,” said H.E. Zeyad Ali Fadhil, the Iraqi Minister of Electricity.As electricity demand in Iraq grows, we continue to work with leading companies like GE Vernova, to ensure that the power needs of residents and industrial users are met in a timely manner through advanced gas power generation technologies, on-time servicing and maintenance of energy infrastructure, and an accelerated use of flared gas, in collaboration with the Ministry of Oil. As an example, in preparation for the peak summer demand season in 2024, the MoE and GE Vernova’s teams completed the MXL2 upgrade on two of GE Vernova’s 13E2 gas turbines at Al Mansouria power plant, with a total capacity of up to 266 megawatts. Additionally, our teams continue to work on maintenance and upgrade projects covering up to 3.8 GW of capacity.”

As part of the new initiatives, GE Vernova also plans to set up a Monitoring and Diagnostics (M&D) Centre that will use the company’s electrification software capabilities for continuous monitoring of core power assets across 18 sites powered by GE Vernova’s 9E gas turbines. The Center is expected to be operated by the MoE’s team, and is projected to help mitigate operational risks, reduce unplanned outage costs, and enable Iraqi talent development through knowledge transfer and the specialized training of local engineers.

GE Vernova has a strong legacy of contributing to the development of Iraq’s energy sector. The company has added up to 19 GW of capacity in the country in just over a decade, completed up to 30 substations over the past 10 years, as well as delivered phase one of the interconnection with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan’s grid, which was inaugurated by the Iraqi government in March 2024. Furthermore, GE Vernova has supported the government of Iraq to secure over US$ 3 billion in funding for energy sector projects since 2015. The company employs over 200 people in the country, more than 95 percent of them Iraqis.
