and investing up to $100 million in Pennsylvania

Cambridge, MA (July 15, 2025) – As energy demand continues to surge, GE Vernova (NYSE: GEV) plans to add 250 new jobs over the next two years at the company’s leading grid solutions factory in Charleroi, PA.

The new roles will help manufacture more high voltage switchgear products, which are critical components for stable and reliable operation of the nation’s electrical grids.

GE Vernova now plans to invest up to $100 million in Pennsylvania over the next two years, adding approximately 700 new jobs across multiple factories in the state that will help modernize the grid for economic growth, strengthen domestic supply chains, and boost national security.

This new Charleroi factory expansion builds on the company’s $600 million multi-year investment announced in January, originally expected to create a total of 1,500 new jobs across numerous U.S. factories.

“Powering the grid is at the core of powering America’s economy,” said Scott Strazik, CEO of GE Vernova. “These new jobs and investment reflect our ongoing commitment to not only building critical grid infrastructure with American workers, but reindustrializing Pennsylvania’s proud manufacturing legacy. They will also help strengthen our domestic supply chain, improve national security, and boost global competitiveness by closing a crucial gap.”

“We are investing in Charleroi and our advanced grid technology because it complements the investments we've made in power generation,” Strazik continued. “For the US to lead in energy, manufacturing critical domestic grid infrastructure is just as important generation.”

In addition to the new investment in its Charleroi facility, GE Vernova also announced it has secured a full order to provide seven of its high efficiency 7HA.02 natural gas turbines to the Homer City Energy Campus. The facility, once the largest coal plant in Pennsylvania, will provide up to 4.4GW of electricity to power what will become a more than 3,200-acre natural gas-powered data center campus, designed to meet the growing artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) needs of the innovative technology companies shaping America’s digital future. The Homer City Energy Campus is expected to be completed in 2027. ***

“The Homer City project shows what smart energy investments can achieve — delivering more reliable, affordable power for all, creating thousands of skilled jobs, and positioning Pennsylvania to help lead the next era of AI,” Strazik added.

The approximately $100 million of new investments in Pennsylvania over the next two years are part of a larger $9 billion cumulative global capex and R&D investment plan through 2028 that was announced at the company’s Investor Update in December 2024.

Currently GE Vernova’s technology helps produce more than half of the power in the United States, and the company has more than 18,000 workers across 50 states and 18 U.S. manufacturing facilities.

###

***For financial editors: the seven 7HA.02 gas turbines were announced as slot reservation agreements on April 2, 2025. These units have since moved to a secured order in 3Q25.

GE Vernova to modernize key cross-border grid hub for TransnetBW in Germany

7 min read
  • GE Vernova to build critical substation in Germany to enhance reliability and handle increasing power flows

  • Strengthens cross-border power flows and renewable integration between Germany, France, and Switzerland.

  • Supports Europe’s energy transition by enabling more renewable energy to flow reliably across borders

Berlin, Germany (08 July, 2025) – GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE: GEV) today announced it has been awarded a contract by German transmission system operator TransnetBW to modernize the Kühmoos grid node - an important electrical substation in southern Germany that plays a vital role in cross-border power flows and regional grid stability. Once complete, the upgraded site is expected to enhance frequency regulation, voltage stability, and power exchange between Germany, France, and Switzerland.

Strengthening a Strategic Grid Node

Located near the Swiss border, Kühmoos serves as a critical transmission hub and connection point for two major pumped-storage hydropower plants. As part of Germany’s broader effort to strengthen grid infrastructure the modernization of Kühmoos aims to increase the capacity and reliability of the substation to support the integration of renewable energy and rising power flows across interconnected European networks.

Scope of GE Vernova’s Work

GE Vernova’s Grid Solutions business will lead turnkey delivery of a new 380 kV gas-insulated substation (GIS), replacing the existing air insulated switchgear, doubling capacity within a significantly smaller footprint while maintaining live operations throughout construction. The project includes 15 bays of compact GIS technology a 4 Main Busbar System, allowing for more flexible, secure, and space-efficient power distribution.

The project also integrates a mechanical switched capacitor with damping network (MSCDN) - a technology that helps regulate voltage and reduce losses, especially as more high-power flows move through the grid.

Dr. Rainer Pflaum, CFO at TransnetBW, said: “At the substation Kühmoos of TransnetBW, we are reinforcing a vital energy hub for both Germany and our neighbouring countries, France and Switzerland. The collaboration with GE Vernova supports our ambition to expand and future-proof our transmission network while continuing to operate reliably and safely. This modernisation is therefore a major milestone in the transformation of our grid, ensuring the electricity supply in south-western Baden-Württemberg.”

“This is a landmark project for the region and a proud moment for GE Vernova,” said Johan Bindele, Vice President and CEO of Grid Systems Integration at GE Vernova. “Modernizing critical grid nodes like Kühmoos is essential for supporting the long-term reliability of Europe’s power system, especially as countries expand their use of renewables and seek greater interconnection across borders. Europe is our largest market for Electrification, and we are deeply committed to supporting its energy transition. We are honored to support TransnetBW in building grid infrastructure that is both future-ready and resilient.”

Supporting Europe’s Grid of the Future

Europe is rapidly scaling up its renewable energy ambitions, with the EU power sector expected to generate around 70% of its electricity from renewables by 2030 and nearly 90% by 2050, according to the latest IRENA outlook. To reach these targets, grid modernization, accelerated infrastructure investment, and better cross-border coordination are critical. Recent insights from the World Economic Forum’s 2025 Energy Transition Index also underscore the urgent need to improve system flexibility and resilience, especially as electricity demand rises. Projects like Kühmoos - designed to enhance transmission capacity, system stability, and cross-border connectivity - are essential enablers of Europe’s energy transition and long-term competitiveness.

GE Vernova’s Grid Solutions business is a global leader in delivering advanced technologies that connect, stabilize, and protect the grid. With this contract, the company reinforces its longstanding presence in Europe and ongoing commitment to building the resilient infrastructure needed to power the energy transition.

GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy and Fortum sign early works agreement to advance potential deployment of BWRX-300 small modular reactor

5 min read

HELSINKI, Finland (July 1, 2025)GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GVH) and Fortum have entered into an early works agreement to advance potential deployment of the BWRX-300 small modular reactor (SMR) in Finland and Sweden.

Fortum completed a new nuclear feasibility study in March and announced that it had selected the BWRX-300 as one of the technologies it is considering for potential deployment in both nations.

“After diligently evaluating several aspects of SMR technologies over the past two years Fortum concluded that the BWRX-300 is a technology for potential deployment in Finland and Sweden,” said Nicole Holmes, Chief Commercial Officer, GVH. “We have a long history supporting the nuclear industry in the Nordics and we look forward to working with Fortum as it continues to develop its capabilities for new nuclear.”

Through the early works agreement GVH and Fortum will work on pre-licensing and engineering activities for site adaption in Finland and Sweden with potential BWRX-300 deployment in the second half of the 2030s.

The 300 MW BWRX-300, a 10th generation design, builds on decades of real-world boiling water reactor operating experience and innovation, using a proven delivery model and leveraging GVH’s experience with cross-border regulatory collaboration.

Momentum continues to build around the global deployment of the BWRX-300. In May, the Province of Ontario and Ontario Power Generation (OPG) announced approval to proceed with construction of the first BWRX-300 at OPG’s Darlington site near Toronto. A total of four BWRX-300s are planned for the site with construction of the first unit expected to be complete by the end of the decade.

Also in May, Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) announced that it has submitted an application to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission to construct the first BWRX-300 in the U.S., at the utility’s Clinch River site in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. These developments support GVH’s leadership position in the SMR sector. Fortum is now poised to benefit from this depth of experience and expertise.

GE Vernova releases 2024 Sustainability Report

8 min read
  • Announced new power generating capacity goal of 150 gigawatts (GW) by 2030, as well as goal to add 30% of it in developing or emerging economies.

  • Added new goal to train 30,000 students and learners through workforce development and training programs by 2030.

  • Key metrics from 2024 include bringing 31 GW of new power generating capacity online, energizing 71 GW of new power transformers, reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions (market-based) by 51% since 2019, and bringing energy to the grid with an estimated carbon intensity ~20% below the global average.

  • Central themes of the Report include GE Vernova’s manufacturing of innovative technology and an optimistic commitment to developing future energy talent.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (June 17, 2025) – GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE: GEV) today released its 2024 Sustainability Report highlighting the company’s successful sustainability performance. The report explores GE Vernova’s commitment to building a more sustainable electric power system by presenting progress made on each of the leading goals established in its Sustainability Framework launched last year.

The company also announced three new goals aimed at helping to support the growing global demand for electricity: to bring a total of 150 gigawatts (GW) of new power generating capacity online between 2024 and 2030, adding 30% of new power generation capacity and grid enabling capacity in developing or emerging economies, and to reach 30,000 students and learners through workforce development and training programs by 2030.

“The world needs more electricity and smarter electricity. We are entering an era where electrons are the foundation for growth, prosperity, and security, and our Sustainability Report maps the progress GE Vernova is making to meet this opportunity,” said Scott Strazik, CEO of GE Vernova. “This year’s report is our strongest proof point on how we are working to deliver on our mission to electrify and decarbonize the world together with our customers, our collaborators, and the communities where we operate, and we are just getting started.”

GE Vernova’s Sustainability Framework comprises four pillars – Electrify, Decarbonize, Conserve, and Thrive – each with leading goals that are core to the company’s sustainability programs, helping align its business performance with non-financial impacts.

Some key highlights from the 2024 Sustainability Report include:

  • Electrify:
    • Brought an additional 31 GW of new power generating capacity online, more than the entire generating capacity of the U.S. state of Virginia, with 62% in developing and emerging economies.
    • Energized 71 GW of new power transformers, enabling new transmission capacity equivalent to the installed generating capacity of South Africa, with 34% in developing and emerging economies.
    • Announced three new goals: adding 150 GW of new power generating capacity by 2030, ensuring that 30% of new capacity added each year is in emerging and developing economies (as defined by the International Monetary Fund), and training 30,000 students and learners through workforce development programs by 2030.
    • Bringing a total of 150 GW of new power generating capacity online between 2024 and 2030, adding 30% of new power generation capacity and grid enabling capacity in developing or emerging economies; and reaching 30,000 students and learners through workforce development and training programs by 2030.
  • Decarbonize:
    • Earned estimated carbon intensity ~20% below the global average of the existing grid for new generating capacity, avoiding ~27 million metric tons CO2 emissions in first full year of operations for new generating capacity, equivalent to 6.3 million gasoline-powered passenger vehicles driven for one year.
    • Reiterated its ambition to deploy and commercialize breakthrough technologies –hydrogen, carbon capture and storage, direct air capture, small modular reactors– to make progress toward net zero Scope 3 emissions from use of sold products by 2050.
  • Conserve:
    • Reduced operational Scope 1 & 2 emissions (market-based) by 51% since 2019, achieved through improvements in internal processes across energy efficiency, SF6 reduction, and through purchasing renewable electricity and energy attribute certificates (EACs).
    • Announced a 38% coverage of its top products under the company’s 4R circularity framework.
  • Thrive:
    • Released the first company-wide Human Rights Report and conducted 576 new supplier audits, with 559 suppliers approved and 17 suppliers rejected.
    • Donated over 23,000 GE Vernova employee volunteer hours, with nearly 1,300 global charities supported by the GE Vernova Foundation.
    • Facilitated over 9,300 student interactions through its Next Engineers program, donated 4,000+ hours by GE Vernova volunteers, with ~90% of Engineering Academy graduates going on to pursue engineering in higher education or through industry apprenticeships.
GE Vernova's 2024 Sustainability Performance

“I’m proud of our sustainability performance that follows through on our commitment to be a force for good for our investors and for the planet, people, and communities,” said Roger Martella, GE Vernova’s Chief Corporate Officer and Chief Sustainability Officer. “GE Vernova’s manufacturing strength and our employees who drive it position us uniquely to building some of the most complex equipment the planet needs.”

Apart from the new announced goals, GE Vernova’s latest sustainability report highlights new sections including the company’s commitment to the next generation of energy leaders, its efforts in driving energy sector innovation to power artificial intelligence and data centers, as well as its new Product Life Cycle Compliance (PLCC) program designed to scan, track, assess, and implement current and future product compliance regulations. The company also obtained external, third-party limited assurance on Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 use of sold products emissions to strengthen the foundation of GE Vernova's sustainability reporting and decarbonization strategy.
