And as someone leading the decarbonization efforts at GE Vernova in this dynamic region, I’m fired up to see incredible momentum and collaboration building every day. While we still have a long road ahead, there is no better time than now, to accelerate our progress—together.
At GE Vernova, our mission is clear, to electrify and decarbonize the world. I want to share some of the technologies as we walk the talk.
Hydrogen: Powering a more sustainable future
Hydrogen is more than a buzzword—it’s a game changer. At GE Vernova, we’re advancing hydrogen-ready turbines and integrated solutions that enable our customers to decarbonize power generation and consequently hard-to-abate sectors while maintaining energy security. Whether it’s blending hydrogen with natural gas or our ability to run turbines on 100% hydrogen, our technologies are already shaping more sustainable energy systems across the region.
Carbon Capture: Bridging today and tomorrow
Let’s face it—as we go through the energy transition, fossil fuels still play a role in many economies. But that doesn’t mean emissions have to stay with us. GE Vernova’s carbon capture technologies and integration solutions are engineered to work with today’s infrastructure with the ability to slash carbon emissions by up to 95%. Our technology solutions aim to help industrial players and utilities across the Middle East and Africa transition smarter and faster.
Direct Air Capture (DAC): Cleaning
Some emissions are unavoidable—but they don’t have to stay in the atmosphere. GE Vernova’s DAC systems are engineered to remove CO₂ directly from ambient air using scalable, energy-efficient technology. While the technology is still emerging, our relentless pursuit of innovation and scalability is positioned to create a transformative impact.
A call to action
More than 40% of Middle East and Africa’s power is generated by GE Vernova technology. But this journey isn’t just about technology—it is about people. It is about cooperation, innovation, and having the courage to reimagine what is possible and lead together. At GE Vernova, we believe decarbonization is a shared mission and I believe this is the most exciting time to unite our efforts, pool our ideas, and drive the future of energy together.
A cleaner, more resilient energy future for the Middle East and Africa starts with all of us. And there is more to come, as we move toward a world that is both electrified and decarbonized.
* Decarbonization as used in this article is intended to mean the reduction of carbon emissions on a kilogram per megawatt hour basis.
