Addressing gas turbine casing issues

During operation and as start/stop cycles grow, gas turbine casings can begin to deteriorate and become deformed because. Oxidation can cause a loss of surface parallelism and finishing, which results in imperfect contact between mating surfaces. This can create a hot air leakage at the circumferential flanged connection between the combustor and turbine casings (cross-flange).

Benefits of the cross-flange upgrade

  • Lower maintenance costs
  • Reduced risk of unplanned or extensive repair needed during a major overhaul
  • Reduced outage delays when spare parts are not available
