Advancing turbine innovation: GE Vernova’s turbine repair center is incorporating AI into operations on the shop floor

GE Vernova is committed to turbine repair by utilizing cutting-edge advancements at its global repair service center in Singapore. With a $20 million investment supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board, on top of the $60 million original investment made in 2019. The 36,000-square-meter (387,000-square-foot) facility will use this new investment to expand its HA gas turbine repair capabilities by implementing AI-powered robotic technologies, automated inspection systems, and lean methodologies.

  • Advancements like 3D Bluelight dimensional inspection and cloud-based computer vision algorithms that can identify repair opportunities in just a few minutes versus several. 
  • Helping to improve reliability, reduce downtime, and provide actionable insights for power producers worldwide, all while lowering repair lead times.
  • GE Vernova plans to create over 100 new technical roles to meet the region’s growing energy demands. These roles will support GE Vernova’s H-class turbines, which are designed for flexibility, support decarbonization efforts, and allow for a future transition to hydrogen.
