GE Power Conversion has been selected to provide the electrical system that will run the process air compressor at SASA Polyester Sanayi A.Ş. new petrochemical plant.
SASA Polyester Sanayi A.Ş. is a world leading producer of polyester staple fiber, filament yarn and polymer. They have secured an investment for the construction of a Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA) production facility in Adana, Turkey. The country is the third importer of PTA in the world, after the United States and Germany. PTA is used in the pharmaceutical and textile industries, as well as for food life extension and packaging. This will be the first PTA facility to be built in Turkey, and it will help to reduce the deficit and the imports of the country in this very important raw material. The site will have a capacity of 1.5 million tons per year.
GE Power Conversion’s system includes a 46.5 MW 6-poles synchronous Motor-Generator with a Load Commuted Inverter (LCI) soft starter. The company has a long history and solid expertise in 4 and 6 pole synchronous motors with more than 800 machines and 5,700 MW installed worldwide.
